Third Hilton Hotel in Brazil Reinforces Company’s Efforts to Grow in Latin America

Hilton Hotels Corporation has announced that it has signed a multi-year management agreement with IMOCOM Group for a full-service 5-star Hilton hotel in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. The 170-guestroom Hilton Salvador da Bahia is scheduled for completion in 2011 and will be Hilton’s third hotel in the country.

Located in the capital of the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, the waterfront Hilton Salvador da Bahia will be part of a restoration project in the city’s historic center – designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. The development involves the restoration of a historical quarter as well as construction of a new modern glass and steel tower where 150 guestrooms will be located.

The Hilton Salvador da Bahia, located 30 kilometers from Salvador International Airport, will feature 170 charming guestrooms outfitted with the new Hilton Serenity Collection™ mattress and linens. Recreation options will include a swimming pool, fitness center, day spa, and more than 3,000 square feet of retail space, while business travelers will have access to over 8,000 square feet of meetings space, including six meeting rooms and two ballrooms. The hotel will offer one signature restaurant, a lobby bar, and 70 on-site parking spaces. Guests can also enjoy nearby museums, historical sites, bayside dining, shopping at the Mercado Modelo, a visit to Elevador Lacerda, or a fun-filled day trip to Brazil’s picturesque beaches.

“Hilton has made a commitment to grow its family of hotels throughout Latin America and this project strengthens both our expansion efforts in the region, as well as our collaboration with IMOCOM Group, owners of a Hilton and Conrad hotel in Portugal,” commented Tom Potter, area vice president, South America, Hilton Hotels Corporation. “We are thrilled about this development. Not only are we bringing a third hotel to Brazil, but doing so in a city set for revitalization and tourism growth.”

Salvador da Bahia, the first colonial capital of Brazil, is one of the oldest and most visited cities in the country. This historic 16th century gem takes travelers back in time to experience a snapshot of a centuries old world, where they can take in the rich architecture of its streets and colorful houses. The city of Salvador da Bahia is a unique portal to the past.

Jeff Diskin, senior vice president – brand management, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, said “Brazil is an extraordinary country with a variety of offerings and the Hilton Salvador da Bahia is the perfect addition to our Latin American portfolio, offering a warm welcome to both the leisure and business traveler. Salvador da Bahia is known as the capital of happiness and we couldn’t be happier to debut our third Brazilian hotel in this flourishing destination.”

"We are delighted to be part of the Hilton Family of Hotels and introduce the Hilton brand to Salvador da Bahia, Brazil,” said Alejandro Martins, president, IMOCOM Group. “The Hilton Family features a collection of sales, marketing, and technology tools, which coupled with our high quality hotel, will help drive success. I’m certain that IMOCOM and Hilton as strategic allies will bring new outstanding projects to South America.”
