JW Marriott Hotel Medan Welcomes Guests on Sumatra (Indonesia)

JW Marriott Hotel Medan opened its doors this week on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, making it Marriott International, Inc.’s (NYSE: MAR) first branded property on the island and its fourth in the country. The hotel operates under a management agreement with Kurnia Tetap Mulia with Joe Masi as General Manager and Nenden Rukasah as Director of Marketing.

Marking the occasion, the hotel is offering an introductory promotion rate of US$89 ++ for double occupancy from now through March 31, 2009, excluding January 23 – February 1, 2009, for the Chinese New Year celebration. The package includes breakfast buffet at the Marriott Café. For families, the package allows up to two children to stay free. Medan is Indonesia’s third largest city and boasts several tourist attractions such as its 19th century colonial architectural marvel, the Grand Mosque Al Mansun, and Temple Gunung Timur, one of the country’s largest Buddhist temples. Located above B&G Tower, JW Marriott Hotel Medan is ideally situated in the center of the city’s busy business district and is only six kilometers from Polonia International Airport. Its 282 rooms and five suites are located on 27 floors where guests can enjoy a magnificent view of the city. Each room offers luxurious bedding, mini-bar, flat-panel TV and connectivity to plug and play iPods and other personal devices. The hotel features three executive levels with two private meeting rooms.

The hotel is equipped with six flexible function rooms, the largest of which is the JW Grand Ballroom that is 20,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 1,200 people. Smaller rooms can be customized to seat 35 – 250 people. Professional planners are available to assist guests with every type of gathering, from weddings to conferences.

When it comes to food and beverage, JW Marriott is known for its great quality and fresh ingredients. JW Marriott Medan’s three restaurants are prime examples. The Prime Steak House and Bar is a Chicago style steakhouse, featuring juicy imported steaks, chops and seafood grilled and served to perfection. The contemporary Jade Chinese Restaurant offers up mouth watering Cantonese and Shanghai specialties with five private dining rooms available upon request. Marriott Café, an all day dining restaurant, offers international cuisine in a buffet style, highlighting authentic Indonesian fare as well as Indian curries, pastas and pizzas.

After a full day, guests at the JW Marriott Hotel Medan can relax with a dip in the infinity edge pool on the 17th floor or work out at the health club with state of the art fitness equipment, which is open 24 hours daily. Massages, wraps, and a variety of other pampering treatments can be enjoyed at the Marriott signature Quan Spa as well.
