Michael Gray, 2007 Hotelier of the Year, to Speak at EHTEC (Netherlands)

Michael Gray, general manager of the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, is scheduled to speak Tuesday 3 February during a featured session at the 2009 European Hospitality Technology Educational Conference (EHTEC). With over 40 years of industry experience, Gray was named the 2007 UK Hotelier of the Year by Caterer & Hotelkeeper magazine and recently oversaw a major restoration to the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill. A service of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), EHTEC 2009 is from 2–4 February 2009 at the Amsterdam Hilton in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Registration is available online.

Gray's session "What Hoteliers Really Want From Hospitality IT Companies" addresses the critical dynamic between hoteliers and hospitality IT companies. The session covers the importance of good communication, defining each party's role, common frustrations for hoteliers and more.

"Mr. Gray's industry experience is incomparable, with a resounding understanding of what defines a good relationship between hoteliers and hospitality IT companies," said Frank Wolfe, CAE, CEO of HFTP. "His insight to achieving effective results from IT projects through planning and communication is a major asset for EHTEC attendees."

Gray has worked in the hospitality industry since 1968. He has been general manager at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill since 2004 and oversaw the hotel's renovation to restore its original character. He previously was General Manager for the Hyatt Carlton Tower in London and operated Hyatt hotels in Australia and Singapore. He was named the 2007 Hotelier of the Year for his outstanding dedication to staff development, industry support and his hands-on approach to managing hotels.

EHTEC offers two days of focused technology education and various networking opportunities with peers and suppliers. The EHTEC Advisory Council, a group of global hospitality experts, designed a programme that addresses tough technology issues prominent in Europe. Important topics addressed include environmental responsibility, short range wireless networks, understanding the Millennial Generation, optimizing hospitality business processes and more.
