From its perch on the Intracoastal Waterway, The Pillars Hotel at New River Sound (http://www.pillarshotel.com/) has been the preferred destination of snowbirds and business travelers for over 50 years. Today, Fort Lauderdale's premier boutique hotel is celebrating its eighth year as a member of the elite Small Luxury Hotels of the World(TM) (SLH, http://www.slh.com/). The Pillars Hotel is the only member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World in Fort Lauderdale and one of only three hotels in Florida to have been approved for membership in SLH.

Landry Trebbi Investment Group, which has owned The Pillars Hotel since 1997 and reopened it in 2000 after an extensive renovation, believes the strong brand awareness provided by the affiliation with SLH will help its casually elegant property weather the economic storm.

"In an increasingly competitive hotel industry, brand is an extremely important ingredient for success," stated The Pillars Hotel's Managing Director Caroline Bonnell. "The Small Luxury Hotels of the World brand is a strong and exclusive international luxury brand, and guests feel like members of a privileged group. We are proud to say that Small Luxury Hotels of the World was just voted the number-one luxury hotel brand for the second consecutive year, as well as the luxury brand offering the best customer experience, by the New York-based Luxury Institute."

With fewer than 500 member hotels worldwide, Small Luxury Hotels of the World carefully selects hotels for their style, sophistication, ambience and amenities -- all areas in which The Pillars Hotel ranks highly. Member hotels are regularly inspected to assess their adherence to SLH'S strict quality and service standards. Those standards are demonstrated in every detail throughout the 18 well-appointed guest rooms and five suites at The Pillars Hotel. The property and rooms are upgraded or enhanced yearly.

A very interesting feature of The Pillars Hotel is its very own private Fort Lauderdale WaterBus whistle stop, which allows guests of the hotel to jump aboard and visit many of the area's top activities and attractions. Also, The Secret Garden, the hotel's private fine dining restaurant, is available only to hotel guests and a by invitation-only club membership. Business and leisure travelers alike enjoy personalized service; the hotel's rooms and suites offer unparalleled comfort and thoughtful amenities.

"High-end business travelers want a true home away from home," said Bonnell. "They're looking for more than a room key, and endless corridor and an impersonal room. At trusted SLH hotels, they can count on feeling welcomed. Business travelers at The Pillars Hotel are greeted with a warm smile and the unique mix of charm and luxury that keep guests coming back year after year."
