Jimmy Palmer brings 15 years of experience in senior leadership roles at five-diamond and five-star hotels and resorts around the world to his new position as Hotel Manager of The Fairmont San Francisco, the flagship property for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Most recently, Palmer served as the Corporate Director of Rooms for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in the Middle East, where unprecedented levels of luxury and guest service have created the seven-star distinction as the new gold standard of hospitality.

While based in Dubai from 2007 through late-2008, Palmer authored 13 design briefs for new and rebranded properties in the Middle East and Africa. He also developed service standards for these premier hotels and resorts, with the firm belief that a hotel’s most valuable asset is its people.

His guiding principle is to create unforgettable structures that are designed to provide ultimate comfort and service to guests. For example, the design brief for The Fairmont Makkah in Saudi Arabia calls for 72 elevators so that guests can quickly leave the hotel when called to prayer in Islam’s holiest city.

Palmer’s projects also included The Fairmont Palms and Kingdom of Sheba, at Palm Island in Dubai as well as other hotels and resorts under development in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Muscat, India and Africa.

In 2004, Palmer joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as the Director of Housekeeping for The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess where he was promoted to Director of Rooms in 2005.

He began his career in hospitality with the venerable Four Seasons brand. From 1994 to 2004, he held positions of increasing responsibility both in the United States and internationally. He also served on the opening team for various Four Seasons five-diamond hotels in the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean.

Palmer received a Master Certification in Financial and Strategic Management from Cornell University, an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Colombo University in Bogotá, Colombia and a diploma from the California Hotel Association.

Born in San Andres Island, Colombia, Palmer was a member of the Colombian National Basketball Team for seven years and represented his country in many international events including the World Basketball Cup, the World University Games in Zagreb and various South American cups. He later played professionally with the Solent Stars club in England.

Today, Palmer enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, reading and, of course, watching or participating in sports activities.
