Raffles Taghazout, opening in 2010, to feature Raffles Residences for private ownership

Raffles Hotels & Resorts announced today that it will manage a new resort in Taghazout, Morocco. The resort, owned by global real estate investment firm Colony Capital, will be located along the pristine Atlantic coast north of Agadir.

The firm's chairman, Thomas J. Barrack Jr., attended the construction ceremony in Morocco, where he developed an inspiring vision of what the resort will be--a rare blend of exciting architecture which cultivates an elegant sense of place. Taghazout will provide residents with a unique opportunity to discover Morocco's authentic civilization in a magical and sophisticated environment. Moroccan officials and partners, who emphasized the kingdom's definitive commitment to the project, echoed Colony Capital's enthusiasm.

When it opens in 2010, Raffles Taghazout will feature approximately 165 luxuriously- appointed guest room villas as well as 60 Raffles Residences for private ownership. Raffles Residences in Taghazout will be available in a variety of options from luxury apartments to private villas with golf course views, all designed to reflect the refined elegance and residential charm for which Raffles is renowned.

At Raffles Taghazout, traditional Moroccan architectural style and sophisticated contemporary design will merge seamlessly, reflecting the rich culture, heritage and artistry of Morocco as well as the ambience of cultured luxury that distinguishes Raffles hotels and resorts around the globe. Its superb beach-front location ensures residents sweeping views of the azure waters which have made Taghazout increasingly favoured by travellers.

Be it leisurely enjoyment or sporting pursuits, residents at Raffles Taghazout will have a myriad of options from which to choose. For those seeking a pampered spa experience, Raffles Amrita Spa, a signature component of all Raffles hotels and resorts, will provide a sanctuary of tranquility and privacy. The resort also offers a diverse range of dining options, shopping at a traditional souk, tennis courts, a fitness centre and pool, as well as beach club access. In addition, golf enthusiasts can look forward to playing 18 holes on a course designed by award-winning golf course architect David Kidd. Taking full advantage of a sun-blessed climate all year long, residents at Raffles Taghazout will be assured of an enchanting experience unhindered by routine.

Raffles Taghazout will be part of a larger resort development along the Atlantic coast as an integral part of King Mohammed VI's Plan Azur, which aims to attract 10 million visitors to Morocco by 2010 and create 600,000 jobs in the tourism industry. With a vision to create the consummate resort development showcasing contemporary reinterpretations of both Moroccan tradition and environmental stewardship against a backdrop of majestic mountains, coastal bluffs and pristine beaches, Taghazout is poised to become an internationally-renowned leisure destination for affluent travellers and families.

Naji Boutros, Colony Capital's Principal and Head of Middle East and Africa, stated, "Raffles hotels and resorts are well-known for their distinctive residential charm and gracious service. We are confident that Raffles Taghazout will bear these same characteristics and introduce a new level of luxury living to this unique resort destination."
Mr. William R. Fatt, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, said, "Raffles Hotels & Resorts is delighted to be part of this exciting resort development as Taghazout is set to become the ultimate luxury resort destination along the Moroccan coast. Raffles Taghazout will be an excellent complement to our portfolio which includes Marrakech and Paris among our growing list of destinations."

Raffles Taghazout marks Raffles Hotels & Resorts' second property in Morocco, with Raffles Marrakech anticipated to open in 2010.
