Early in 2011 the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotel Group will open the Steigenberger Grandhotel in Leipzig, in close proximity to the Naschmarkt and the Altes Rathaus. The elegant luxury hotel, which belongs to the Steigenberger Grandhotel Collection, skilfully combines traditional and modern elements and will set new hotel standards in this attractive city, well known for its culture and its exhibitions. This exclusive Grandhotel serves to reinforce the new strategic orientation of the Steigenberger Hotel Group.
Behind the protected historic facade of the former Handelshof the building has been completely renovated, creating a modern Grandhotel that will live up to the reputation and history of the site, both in terms of looks and facilities. It will have over 165 luxury rooms, eleven suites, each measuring between 52 and 70 sqm, and one Presidential Suite.
Conference guests at the Steigenberger Grandhotel Leipzig will be well served by the conference area, which covers around 500 sqm and has four seminar rooms. In future, guests will be able to relax in the hotel's own premium-category Wellness area and in the two restaurants – one of which is a Gourmet restaurant – and the Lobby bar.
The investor in this project is Handelshof GmbH, a joint venture between Leipziger Stadtbau AG and the English private investment firm Patron Capital, London. The hotel will be managed by Steigenberger Hotels AG. Leipzig has long been high on the wish list of both partners. This important business centre in the state of Saxony records consistent overnight accommodation figures and is a rewarding destination for business travellers and weekend tourists alike.
