. . . ALHI Adds Hotels in Memphis, Little Rock & Orlando

Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) has extended its exclusive membership with the strategic addition of the three impressive Peabody Hotels (and their famed Ducks): The Peabody Memphis, The Peabody Orlando and The Peabody Little Rock. The latter becomes ALHI’s first member hotel in Arkansas. ALHI will provide authorized national sales services for the popular AAA Four-Diamond hotels to corporations, associations, independent planners, and incentive and product launch specialists desiring to conduct meetings, incentive programs, conventions, and exhibitions.

“We are excited to have these three Peabody Hotels as new ‘gems’ within our portfolio,” said David Gabri, president and CEO of ALHI. “Each is widely recognized for their outstanding facilities, exceptional standards of service and food and beverage, and for their experience in the proper handling of group business. Additionally, we are particularly excited to share with the marketplace the repositioning and additions to the award-winning Peabody Orlando with its new 750 guest rooms and significant meeting space additions, to the coordinated extreme makeover of the original 891 guest rooms and suites. In 2010 we will have essentially a brand new Peabody Orlando facility with years of award-winning service.”

Not resting on its laurels, the preeminent Mobil Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond Peabody Orlando in Orlando, Florida, is undergoing an impressive $450 million expansion and renovation. The project includes the addition of 750 new guest rooms in a new 34-story tower, which will bring The Peabody Orlando total offerings to 1,641 guest rooms and suites. The hotel also is adding 150,000 square feet of new flexible function space, which will bring its total meeting space to 210,000 square feet, including a new 55,000-square-foot Peabody Grand Ballroom, and a new 35,000-square-foot Windermere Ballroom, in addition to the existing 27,000-square-foot Plaza International Ballroom. The comprehensive project also includes the renovation of the original hotel, the construction of a 2,100-car parking garage, and the addition of a new Spa, and more. Upon the completion of the project, slated for November 2010, The Peabody Orlando will be the largest Four-Star hotel in North America, excluding casino properties.

“We are delighted to now be part of the prestigious ALHI national sales system to help us present our new facilities to the marketplace,” said Alan Villaverde, executive vice president and general manager of The Peabody Orlando. “We are preparing ourselves today for tomorrow. It’s always good to expand and renovate you hotel when the economy is down, so we are fully completed as the next cycle returns.”

The Peabody Orlando is ideally located on popular International Drive in the uptown area, walking distance to dozens of restaurants and shops, and within minutes of Orlando’s theme parks. It is situated directly across the street from, and connected by skybridge to, the Orange County Convention Center, which provides The Peabody Orlando incremental meeting space options. The Orlando International Airport is just 15 minutes away. The hotel features the Peabody Athletic Club, an Olympic-style swimming pool, four tennis courts, fantastic views from its guest rooms, and the world-famous Peabody Ducks. Among the many honors bestowed on the hotel includes being named one of the “Top 70 Business Hotels in the World” by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

The Peabody Orlando complements the other exceptional ALHI member hotels and resorts in Central Florida, including the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando, and Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando.

Located in the heart of “Blues City” (Memphis, Tennessee), The Peabody Memphis is a renowned Mobil Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond landmark hotel that is a consistent recipient of the meetings and incentive industries’ highest honors. Hailed as the “South’s Grand Hotel,” it features 464 guest rooms and suites, 22 meeting rooms with a total of 80,000 square feet of meeting space, the full-service Gould’s Day Spa & Salon, a heated indoor pool, six dining outlets including the Four-Star Chez Philippe, and the world-famous “March of the Peabody Ducks.” The hotel has completed more than $30 million in renovations over the past three years, which included enhancements to the guest rooms and suites, meeting spaces, lobby, restaurants, bars, and health club. The hotel is just blocks from Memphis’ famous attractions, and is just 15 minutes from Memphis International Airport.

The Peabody Memphis becomes ALHI’s third member in Tennessee, joining the acclaimed Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, and the impressive Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.

Positioned on the banks of the Arkansas River, in the heart of Little Rock, Arkansas’ bustling River Market District, The Peabody Little Rock offers 418 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites, and 18 meeting rooms with a total of 40,000 square feet of meeting space. The AAA Four-Diamond hotel is conveniently connected to the Statehouse Convention Center, and it features the full-service Peabody Athletic Club, an exclusive concierge level, four dining outlets including the award-winning Capriccio Grill Italian Steakhouse, and the renowned Peabody Ducks. The hotel is less than a mile from the William J. Clinton Presidential Library, and is less than 15 minutes from the Little Rock International Airport.

With a diverse luxury portfolio of more than 125 Four- and Five-Diamond/Star quality hotels and resorts worldwide, with nearly 90,000 rooms and suites and over 9 million square feet of meeting space, ALHI serves as a dedicated dues-based National Sales organization that enables planners to gain reliable one-call, experienced national sales professional access to its outstanding member hotels and resorts worldwide which specialize in meetings and incentive programs requiring from 10 to more than 5,000 rooms.
