Benchmark Hospitality International has announced that the new Spa at Chaminade, located at the Chaminade Resort & Spa in Santa Cruz, California, has opened. The 1,400-square-foot spa has been completely retrofitted and enhanced, and includes new treatment suites with distinctively contemporary interiors beautifully complementing the recently renovated resort. The opening was announced by General Manager Norbert Relecker.

“I am so pleased to announce the opening of our exquisite new spa,” said Mr. Relecker. “We now have a spa treatment facility that perfectly matches and blends beautifully with our remarkable setting and exceptional resort.”

The historic Chaminade Resort & Spa is perched high on a vast hillside rising out of Monterey Bay, and features inspiring Bay and Pacific Ocean vistas. The resort, originally a Catholic Boys School, is surrounded by ancient oaks and wonderfully fragrant eucalyptus trees, and is imbued with 80 years of charm.

The interior designer for the new Spa at Chaminade, Andrea Dawson Sheehan, Dawson Design Associates www.dawsondesignassociates.com of Seattle, Washington, incorporated this heritage into the spa’s sophisticated and luxurious new interiors. The spa design is based on natural, earthy textures and colors to reflect the picturesque Northern California surroundings of the property.

The Spa at Chaminade’s treatment menu features traditional favorites, such as rejuvenating body scrubs, body wraps, skin care treatments and massages. These treatments, however, will utilize natural ingredients reflective of the terrior of the Santa Cruz region, such as highly concentrated seaweed oil, grape seed oil, organic stone crop and propolis. Treatments expected to become favorites are the new Mimosa Champagne Massage and the Organic Blueberry Slimming Scrub and Wrap, according to Spa Director Trevor Rogers, which will be as soothing for the body as the beauty of Chaminade’s setting is for the soul.

In keeping with Chaminade’s status as a Monterey Bay Green Certified property, the Spa’s treatments are environmentally friendly and designed with health and nature benefits in mind. Additionally, none of the products used in the Spa have been tested on animals. The Spa at Chaminade utilizes organic and renewable ingredients where ever possible and all byproducts are recycled with organic matter composed. Many of the Spa’s product lines are renowned for minimizing their use of chemicals and artificial preservatives.
