Jonathan Wigley, CEO of U Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce the recent award winning of U Chiang Mai for “Historical Architectural Conservation Awards 2009” from The Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage. Historical Architectural Conservation Awards are organized by The Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage to recognize the efforts of private individuals and organizations who have successfully restored and conserved structures and buildings of heritage value in Thailand.

U Chiang Mai’s architecture and interior designer team has preserved the original architecture structure of the past residence of Chiang Mai’s Governor which is now served as the Residents’ Lounge to welcome guests upon arrival at the hotel. The residence has been refreshed through interior design and decorative items given a modern Thai accent to this heritage setting. Moreover the interior and decor in the 41 deluxe and superior rooms have also been designed with a contemporary Lanna style.

“This is one of our U Hotels & Resorts’ core brand pillars which is to reconnect, to allow guests to experience the world within the locations we are in by providing a total uncomplicated service and at the same time encouraging them to step into the local environment and experience the surrounding culture and heritage at their own pace to create a unique experience.” said Mr. Jonathan Wigley, CEO of U Hotels & Resorts.
