Newly-renovated $10 million hotel brings boutique charm to cosmopolitan Central West End

Hotel Indigo today announced the opening of Hotel Indigo St. Louis Central West End following a $10 million renovation by Roberts Hotels Group of the historic Bel Air West Motel, which first opened in 1958 as the city’s first motel. The Central West End property is the first of three Hotel Indigo properties planned for St. Louis; additional hotels are slated to open in University City and the downtown convention district in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Located in an upscale neighborhood known for its rich architectural heritage, the 127-room boutique hotel was recently included on the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service.

“We’ve had our eye on this hotel for several years now. Thanks to the design flexibility of the Hotel Indigo brand, we’ve been able to restore the architectural and historic detail of the building while also infusing a sophisticated and relevant design palette that’s expected from a boutique hotel,” said Steven Roberts, president of the Roberts Companies. “The structure showed so much promise, and we were thrilled when the opportunity came to restore it to its former glory while adding a new, chic brand to the market.”

Roberts Hotels Group, a subsidiary of The Roberts Companies, owns both the Hotel Indigo St. Louis Central West End and the downtown property currently in the pipeline. The Roberts Companies is owned by Michael and Steven Roberts, two brothers ranked among the country’s most successful African-American businessmen.

“As the ‘Gateway to the West’, St. Louis is a vibrant, internationally renowned city with a distinctive culture that makes it popular as both a business and leisure destination, and we’re pleased to be working with the Roberts Hotels Group on two projects there,” said Janis Cannon, vice president, global brand management, Hotel Indigo. “The Interpret Indigo design program will allow us to offer a unique experience at each of these properties in St. Louis, while still providing the service culture and consistency that our guests expect."

Minutes from the Saint Louis Zoo and the famous Gateway Arch, Hotel Indigo St. Louis provides convenient access to downtown and the city’s leading cultural institutions. The property is located within blocks of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and one block from Forest Park. Nearby attractions include the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum, the America’s Center Convention Complex, Saint Louis University, Washington University, theater district and art galleries.

Hotel Indigo St. Louis features inviting guestrooms with plush bedding, hard-surface flooring with area rugs, a spa-inspired bath experience, and complimentary high-speed Internet access in guestrooms and public spaces. The hotel also offers gourmet menu items and full service-bar at Phi Bar and Bistro, complimentary parking, a 24-hour business center, and more then 1,100 square feet of meeting space for business functions or special events.

The Hotel Indigo St. Louis Central West End is owned and managed by Roberts Hotel Management Group LLC under a license agreement with IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), [LON: IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)], the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms.

Meeting the desires of today’s traveler, Hotel Indigo is an upscale boutique brand that delivers a refreshing and inviting guest experience that is truly reflective of the local community. From the locally-inspired murals to the seasonal renewal program where the images, music, scent, and menu items change four times a year, Hotel Indigo gives guests a vibrant, engaging and genuine boutique experience.

With the addition of Hotel Indigo St. Louis there are currently 28 Hotel Indigo properties open worldwide and more than 60 hotels under development, either in the pipeline or in final negotiation. By the end of 2009, Hotel Indigo will almost double its footprint in the Americas by opening properties in New York City, San Diego, and Miami Beach.
