Presidente InterContinental Cancun Resort Reopens on March 10 Following Changes, Additions and Upgrades to the Entire Property

MEXICO CITY (Feb. 21, 2006) – The AAA Four Diamond Award winning Presidente InterContinental Cancun Resort began a dramatic transformation this winter and will re-open to guests beginning March 10, 2006.

While Cancun’s beaches were severely eroded by Hurricane Wilma, the Presidente InterContinental Cancun Resort, due to its privileged location, added more than 15 feet of additional frontage to its spectacular private beach, one of the largest and most beautiful in Mexico and featured as one of the “World’s Best Beaches” by the Travel Channel. The natural white sand beach is 132 feet long and boasts 295 feet wide depth, from the edge of the newly designed pool to the ocean.

Following Hurricane Wilma, senior Grupo Presidente officials took advantage of a rare opportunity to make several dramatic additions to the resort, as well as an extensive renovation of all rooms and public areas.

The resort’s new entrance includes water accents, a porte-cochère, which will allow guests to access the resort directly and be protected from the elements, and a redesigned lobby area featuring a grand staircase. Each of the resort’s 299 guest rooms and suites were upgraded with new duvet covers, bedding, upholstery and carpeting throughout all corridors. A completely new club floor featuring 36 new club rooms is now located on the fifth floor, bringing the total number of club rooms offered at the property to 52.

The resort offers two bars: Caña Brava and a newly-built oceanfront deck bar, which will offer nightly live music and entertainment while guests enjoy an unparalleled view of the magnificent Caribbean Sea.

The resort’s main pool was redesigned, and as a result it is now larger and boasts five Jacuzzis and an unobstructed view of the beach and ocean. A second “quite zone” pool was also added. The beach and pool areas feature all new furniture and new palapas are located along the beach, including a unique palapa, which will enable the resort to offer beachside massage services.

The resort currently offers three dining options, including the renowned Italian eatery, Alfredo di Roma, which opened in October 2005 and was not affected by Wilma. The Alfredo di Roma restaurant features a sports bar, which boasts three large screen plasma TVs for watching sporting events. The resort’s “open air” El Caribeño restaurant is entirely new, from all new furniture to the kitchen. Located under a giant poolside “palapa,” El Caribeño offers a casually elegant atmosphere and delicious seafood dishes as well as a spectacular view of the beach and ocean.

The resort is currently undergoing the second and final phase of additions and improvements, which are expected to be complete by July 15, 2006 and will finalize the resort’s dramatic transformation. Guests will experience a minimal inconvenience during this time.

When complete, the centerpiece of the fabulous new lobby area will be a wall of windows that will offer guests and visitors a stunning view of the resort’s white sand beach as it stretches out to the emerald ocean waters. In addition, another restaurant, Frutas y Flores, will be added to the lobby level and will offer guests the option of either open air or air-conditioned dining areas.

A brand new building will house the resort’s state-of-the-art meeting facilities, featuring a 6,394 square foot main ballroom and 9,746 square feet of total meeting space. A rooftop tennis court will be located at the top of the new building.

All staff have been outfitted in brand new stylish uniforms and have been trained to provide a new level of service and hospitality that guests have come to expect from all Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.

“We are looking forward to welcoming guests back to the Presidente InterContinental Cancun Resort. Considering the new additions and upgrades that we have added to the resort and its location on the finest beach in Cancun, there is no doubt that the property will continue to be regarded among the very best in Cancun,” said Mr. Gordon Viberg, CEO, Grupo Presidente.
