Asia’s finest remains a firm favourite with Condé Nast Traveller readers
At the 11th annual Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards held at The Royal Institution of Great Britain in central London on September 2, 2009 Chiva-Som was named as runner-up in the ‘Best Overseas Destination Spa’ , maintaining its status as the only destination spa in the world to have consistently been placed in the top five every year since the awards were introduced in 1999.
The award was presented by Sarah Miller, editor of Condé Nast Traveller, and was collected on behalf of Chiva-Som by UK and Europe representative Jeff Bacall.
Since the awards began in 1998, Chiva-Som has been named as winner of the ‘Overseas Destination Spa’ category three times, and runner-up six times, a record which remains unbeaten by any other destination spa in the world. Over 80,000 Condé Nast Traveller readers cast their votes this year, in a range of categories including accommodation, ambience and amenities; Chiva-Som was ranked the highest in the ‘body treatments’ and ‘cuisine’ categories.
