Making Spirits Bright

When it comes to merry-making, few things say "holiday cheer" like raising a glass with friends. Nowhere is this tradition more delicious than at Four Seasons Hotel Austin, where resident mixologists have created a holiday cocktail menu that'll have you dashing through the snow just to visit The Lobby Lounge.

If visions of sugarplums dance through your head, take a sweet sip of the Mistletoe Mojito, which gets a festive update from fresh cranberries, or S'More the Merrier, a chocolatey graham-crumb-rimmed concoction for the kid in all of us.

For serious cocktail buffs who scoff at sugary drinks, bartender Leslie Coyne has created the Yule-Thyme Martini, inspired by the flavours of turkey stuffing. But never fear: there are no croutons floating in this glass. Instead, locally handmade vodka gets an herb infusion from fresh sage and thyme. The drink is topped off with a splash of Oban scotch, for smokiness, and a Hen-of-the-Woods mushroom garnish. What a way to savour the season(ing)!

Four Seasons Hotel Austin's holiday cocktails are available from November 1, 2009 to January 3, 2010. Don't delay — the holidays are approaching faster than Santa's sleigh.
