New loyalty program is new twist for landmark Saigon hotel

The most renown hotel in the world’s second fastest growing city has stepped up efforts to win more repeat business from guests.

This week, the Caravelle Hotel is unveiling the Caravelle Heritage Club (CHC), a frequent patronage programme for regular guests. Repeat patrons can rack up CHC points that can be redeemed for accommodation in several categories of rooms and suites, for use of the hotel’s meetings rooms, for gift vouchers and other perks.

Members of the CHC also receive a suite of default benefits, including a 10% discount on all food and beverage purchases, a buffet dinner voucher for redemption during the month of the member’s birthday, welcome fruit bowls, guaranteed room availability for reservations made 24 hours in advance, early check-in and late check-out, as well as other perks.

The patronage program also lets guests redeem CHC points for stays at some of Vietnam’s other leading, independent hotels and resorts, including The Nam Hai and the Princess d’Annam Resort and Spa.

“Loyalty reward programs are par for the course at large chain hotels but a much tougher proposition for an independent property,” said John Gardner, general manager of the Caravelle. “The formation of the CHC lets us couple our one-of-a-kind appeal to a loyalty program that rewards our regulars.”

Membership in the program is free to qualifying applicants. Application can be made at the hotel’s web site, or at the reception desk.

For every 20,000 dong ($1.10) spent on rooms at the hotel, members receive 1 CHC point. A single room night at the Caravelle, or any of its nine partner hotels within Vietnam, can be redeemed for 3,500 CHC points. At rack rate, this formula gives up a free room for every 12.5 nights’ stay in a standard Caravelle room.
