New Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park Gears Up for World Expo and Increased Tourism (China)

Welcoming the Year of Tiger, the 501-room Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park opens its doors this week to guests, offering luxurious accommodations, exquisite food and beverage outlets and great meeting facilities. The hotel incorporates the latest innovations of Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International’s performance-driven brand and is positioned well to service the influx of travelers to Shanghai during the highly-anticipated World Expo 2010, while also catering to the growing business and leisure tourism market.

Owned by the New Development Group Co., Ltd. and operated by Marriott International under a long-term management agreement, the hotel hosted a vibrant opening ceremony and celebration that was attended by more than 500 government officials, business partners, key customers and media. The ceremony included an additional flare with a display of high-profile Ducati motorcycle models.

“Our group is always in pursuit of excellence, which is why we have set very high expectations for the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park,” He Weichang, vice president, board of directors of the New Development Group said. “The Marriott brand and managerial expertise will soon establish the hotel as a major property for Shanghai.”

In celebration of its opening, the hotel is offering an introductory rate starting at RMB 1300 per room per night. Guests are also given a choice of one special service, including round trip airport transfer, dinner for two, free massage, free room upgrade or 10,000 Marriott Reward points. The promotion is valid for stays with a minimum of two nights and expires in April 2010.

“Shanghai is a world famous metropolitan city and a prime destination for both business and leisure travelers,” Rauf Malik, general manager of Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park commented. “In a couple of months, we will embrace the long-awaited World Expo Shanghai. Our hotel is conveniently located from all Expo venues. We are also the first internationally managed five-star hotel in the Putuo District, new trendy ecological commercial zone.”

Located in the Changfeng Ecology Commercial District, the 32-storey hotel faces the picturesque Changfeng Park and overlooks Suzhou River. Adjacent to the Hongqiao CBD, it is only a15-minute drive from Hongqiao Airport and a 50-minute drive from Pudong International Airport.

Changfeng Deluxe Park View Room S Its 501 spacious guest rooms are designed to accommodate both leisure and business visitors, featuring plush new bedding, bathrobes, flat screen television, ergonomic chairs, high speed internet and a well lit full-sized desk. The executive lounge is located on the 31st floor and boasts a panoramic view of the scenic Changfeng Park and Suzhou River.

In keeping with Marriott Hotels & Resorts’ global redesign of the traditional lobby, the Shanghai Marriott Changfeng Park offers a lobby that is a hub of social activity. Various defined zones allow guests to utilize the space for socializing, independent relaxation and informal business meetings or simply to have a meal at The Lounge.

The hotel also offers seven restaurants and bars featuring international cuisine and local favorites. Pearl highlights mouthwatering dishes from the Pearl River Delta region and has eight private rooms for a more personal dining experience. Sakitori serves up traditional yet contemporary Japanese cuisine for lunch and dinner while Park Café serves all day dining and three-meal buffet featuring south Asian, western and Chinese cuisine. Java+ provides freshly baked breads and pastries as well as an extensive selection of home-made chocolates. Panorama opens for lunch and offers simple yet tasty sandwiches and light snacks while serving drinks and tapas from early evening till late night. DÔME is a stylish wine bar in the basement featuring a variety of fine red wines.

The Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park has a fully equipped fitness center comprised of the latest cardio machines, strength training gear, free weights and a 25-meter indoor swimming pool. Guests can also experience the ultimate relaxation at Marriott’s award-winning Quan Spa, where they are rejuvenated by hydrotherapeutic treatments and massages using pure essential oils and natural fruit extracts.

The hotel is ideal for organizing meetings and social events. Furnished with the newest audio and visual equipment, it offers more than 1,500 square meters of flexible space, consisting of 13 function rooms and a ballroom of almost 770 square meters for gatherings of up to 700 guests.
