. . . This Year Marks The 25th Consecutive Year Of The Popular Free Concert Series; Beachfront Resort Offering Special “SummerJazz Rate”

A Southwest Florida tradition continues, as The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club will again host its popular “SummerJazz on the Gulf” concert series. This will mark the 25th consecutive year of the fun, free concert series, which combines the smooth sounds of Jazz with gorgeous views of the Gulf, exquisite sunsets, refreshing breezes, and a relaxing atmosphere. Each concert is held on the resort’s scenic Watkins Lawn overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. “SummerJazz on the Gulf” will take place one Saturday evening per month June-September, and each concert will be from 7 - 10 p.m. This year’s concerts will be on Saturday, June 26; Saturday, July 24; Saturday, August 28; and Saturday, September 18, 2010.

According to Jim Anderson, food & beverage director for The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club and organizer of the annual concert series, the complete 2010 “SummerJazz on the Gulf” lineup is:

· Blue Dice – Saturday, June 26, 2010
· Late Night Brass – Saturday, July 24, 2010
· Mike MacArthur Band – Saturday, August 28, 2010
· Denise Moore and Then Some – Saturday, September 18, 2010.

“This year we’re featuring a great group that is new to SummerJazz, as well as bringing back three of our most popular groups, Late Night Brass, the Mike MacArthur Band and Blue Dice,” said Anderson. “Jazz lovers will be very pleased with this year’s line-up, as we have a very nice diversity of groups that will all truly entertain the audience.”

There will be parking, just north of the hotel at Lowdermilk Park, with free parking provided to those with a Naples beach sticker. Free trolley service running to and from the resort also will be available. Guests may bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating, however coolers are not permitted. In conjunction with each concert, The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club is offering a special “SummerJazz Rate” for concert goers who wish to stay at the resort on those evenings. The rate starts at $149 per room, per night, and includes two reserved beach chairs, unlimited tennis, access to the resort’s world-class Spa and complete Fitness Center (with use of the exercise room, whirlpool, sauna and steam room), valet parking, afternoon tea and cookies at 4 p.m. daily, and admission for children ages five to 12 in the morning activities of the Beach Klub 4 Kids supervised child activity program. The impressive, 9-piece Blue Dice will kick-off this year’s SummerJazz concert series on Saturday, June 26, 2010. Returning to SummerJazz, Blue Dice is known for its soulful, rockin’ blues shows. The band is led by guitarist/songwriter/ vocalist Victor Paul, who is accompanied by keyboardist/guitarist Johnny Savant, tenor sax player Rick Merritt, alto sax player Andrea Merrit, Baritone sax/clarinet player Jeff Bloom, bassist Mike Butler, and virtuoso drummer Jerry Caglese. They will perform a mixture of Memphis Blues, R&B, Funk, Soul, and Jazz tunes. For band information, visit www.bluedice.com .

The versatile 10-piece Late Night Brass will headline the SummerJazz concert on Saturday, July 24, 2010. This high-energy band features a powerful four-piece horn section, a skilled four-piece rhythm section (keyboard, guitar, bass and drums), a dynamic male vocalist, and a very talented female vocalist. They will perform a range of songs from such popular horn bands as Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Blood Sweat & Tears, and The Doobie Brothers. The band has even opened up for Chicago, Chris Botti, Billy Joel & Elton John, Michael Bublé, Earth Wind & Fire, and Sting & The Police. The Mike MacArthur Band returns to SummerJazz on Saturday, August 28, 2010, after its very popular appearance in 2008. Skilled as a soloist, a sideman performer with well-known national acts, and as leader of his namesake 5-piece band, saxophonist Mike MacArthur performs a rich diversity of jazz, nu-jazz, and funk tunes. He has toured with Maynard Ferguson’s Big Bop Nouveau Band, and has worked with such artists as Jeff Kashiwa, Mary Wilson & The Supremes, and Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd). His inspiration ranges from the be-bop sounds of Charlie Parker to the modern sounds of Michael Brecker. For more information on the band, visit www.mikemacarthur.com .

This season’s final SummerJazz concert on Saturday, September 18, 2010 will feature Denise Moore and Then Some, making their first appearance at SummerJazz. Led by talented vocalist Denise Moore, the 5-piece band also features gifted jazz pianist Billy Marcus, and well-known and highly-respected saxophonist David Pate. Moore, an engaging jazz and blues songstress with a wide vocal range, cites Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Ray Charles as her influences. The ensemble is known for its sultry energy and rhythmic poise, and will perform a sophisticated repertoire of blues, jazz, swing and samba music. Guests attending “SummerJazz on the Gulf” should consider dining at the resort’s H.B.’s on the Gulf, the city of Naples’ only beachfront restaurant, which serves fresh Florida seafood and traditional American favorites. Patrons also can enjoy a specialty drink at the Sunset Beach Bar, named Naples’ “Best Beach Bar” by the Travel Channel. Refreshments and grilled items also will be available for purchase at each concert.

The resort completed a multi-million dollar remodeling and renovation of its guest rooms in January 2010, and completed its $5 million all-new beachfront pool complex in February 2010.
