New Addition Expands the Radisson Resort Portfolio in the Caribbean

Carlson Hotels today announced the addition of the Radisson Hotel & Spa Martinique, a 175-room beachfront hotel located in Schoelcher, Martinique, on the Eastern side of the island. The resort will undergo a USD 10 million renovation beginning in mid-June and is expected to join the Radisson brand by the end of 2011. Radisson currently has three world-class resorts in the region in Aruba, Grand Bahama Island and St Martin.

"This property represents another step forward expanding Radisson as a powerful, consistent first-class brand as part of our Ambition 2015 growth strategy," said Thorsten Kirschke, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Carlson Hotels, The Americas.

The Radisson Hotel & Spa Martinique is owned by the Groupe Monplaisir and was formerly the Hotel La Bateliere.

"We are thrilled to be joining the Radisson franchise during this exciting turning point in the brand's history," said Donald Monplaisir, owner of Radisson Hotel & Spa Martinique.

"We are confident that with the investment and upgrades being made to our property it will make the hotel a favorite for anyone visiting Martinique," he added. As part of Carlson Hotels' Ambition 2015 plan, Radisson is focused on delivering vibrant, contemporary and engaging hospitality characterized by the Yes I Can! service philosophy. The positioning is being supported by a series of innovations including new room concepts, new restaurant concepts and a series of new service concepts focused on the guest experience.

O-Gossart agency, from Paris, has been contracted to develop the interior designs for the hotel that aligns with Radisson's new standards as part of Ambition 2015.

Among the planned enhancements, the hotel will have two restaurants and three bars, one of which is located on more than 1,400 feet of beachfront property. The hotel will have six banquet rooms with a total of 12,000 square feet of space which will hold up to 1,000 people. Additional amenities include a complete spa & fitness center, beauty salon, diving club and six tennis courts.

Just eight miles from Martinique Aime Cesaire International Airport, the Radisson Hotel & Spa will not only be a leisure destination, but also an ideal business destination with its extensive meeting space.
