Dirk Führer (43) is to take on the role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for the Steigenberger Hotel Group in Frankfurt. He will assume responsibility for all issues concerning sales, marketing, E-commerce, revenue management and distribution for the hotel group.

In Dirk Führer, the Steigenberger Hotel Group has appointed a CCO with international hotel management experience. In his new role, Führer will be responsible for sales, marketing, E-commerce, revenue management and distribution for the brands Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts and InterCityHotel, which between them currently own 78 hotels. These include flagship establishments such as the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, the Steigenberger Parkhotel in Düsseldorf, the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart and the Steigenberger Hotel Belvédère in the Swiss resort of Davos.

Dirk Führer began his hotel career in 1985 as a Management Trainee in the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in his native Munich. This was followed by senior positions in sales and marketing in Sheraton Hotels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Salzburg and the island of Bali. After a spell at LTU Touristik as Brand Manager for Meier’s Weltreisen in Düsseldorf, Führer changed in 1998 to the Rezidor Group, where he worked for four years in a variety of management roles. Initially, Führer was based in Wiesbaden and acted as Regional Director, running the sales and marketing activities in Central and Eastern Europe. He then moved to the Rezidor headquarters in Brussels to take up a position as Senior Director and Head of Corporate and Leisure Sales.

In 2002, Führer moved again, this time to Hilton Worldwide in Frankfurt. As Area Director of Sales Central Europe, Führer is currently responsible for 24 hotels as well as the management of a Global Sales Office and six national Sales Offices.

“In Dirk Führer we have been fortunate to recruit an outstanding sales and marketing specialist with many years of experience in the hotel trade. His international expertise will enable him to support our company on its continuing growth curve”, declared Arco Buijs, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG.

The Steigenberger hotel company was in the ownership of the Steigenberger family for almost 80 years. Since September 2009 the hotel group has had a new majority shareholder in the form of the Egyptian tourism entrepreneur Hamed El Chiaty, owner of the Travco Group. The Travco Group is the largest tourism company in Egypt and a leading player in the Middle East. It operates 50 hotels under the brand names Jaz, Iberotel and Sol y Mar, 22 Nile cruise ships under the brand names Travcotels and Iberotel and a complete range of tourism services.
