Use it, don’t lose it and take your vacation time when the nights will be free

According to experts, poor planning is a main reason why many Americans don’t use their allotted vacation time. To help combat vacation withdrawal and promote foresight in time away from the office, IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), the world’s largest hotel group, is encouraging travellers to stay with them this fall to earn free nights for a vacation to take later at any InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Express®, Holiday Inn® Club Vacations, Staybridge® Suites or Candlewood® Suites.

During the “Sweet Dilemma” promotion period, guests will receive a free night for every two stays Sept. 20 - Dec. 31, 2010 at any of more than 4,000 IHG hotels worldwide (excluding the Asia-Pacific region). Guests can earn up to five free nights and use them Dec. 1 – May 31, 2011.

“Taking a vacation is like re-charging a battery, for the much needed energy employees truly need to get back to work at their fullest potential” said Del Ross, vice president, U.S. Sales & Marketing, IHG. “We’re making it easier for our guests to take the time to plan a vacation by rewarding them with free nights that they don’t need to use right away, but during the holidays or for winter or spring vacations.”

Alternatively, guests can choose to earn double Priority Club® points or airline miles instead of free nights when they register for the promotion.

“Double Priority Club points allow our members to get to their rewards even faster,” said Lincoln Barrett, vice president, MultiBrand Marketing and Alliances. “With this promotion not only do they have the choice to earn free nights they can choose Priority Club points and redeem for the items that signify work-life balance to them, such as a spa gift certificate.”

Additionally, beginning Oct. 18, IHG is rewarding followers of its Twitter handle, @IHG_Deals, the chance to win a three-night getaway at any IHG hotel and other prizes that will help them tip the scale of work-life balance more toward life. The sweepstakes runs through Nov. 5, 2010.
