Geoffrey Gelardi, Managing Director of The Lanesborough, has been honoured with the prestigious title of ‘Top General Manager of a Luxury Hotel/Resort Worldwide’ at the Luxury Travel Advisor Awards of Excellence Gala 2010, held in Las Vegas on December 7th 2010. The third annual event, held in conjunction with the Luxury Travel Expo in Las Vegas, recognised the year’s best of the best in luxury travel, and brought together the industry’s leading luxury travel advisors and suppliers in a gala ceremony at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
Created in 2008 to recognize individuals, destinations and companies that set luxury travel apart, the Luxury Travel Advisor Awards of Excellence Advisory Board, comprised of the most influential voices in luxury travel, hand-selects each year’s nominees, before the final vote is given to the esteemed readers to determine the year’s winners through an online or mail-in voting ballot.
Mr. Gelardi was previously named ‘Hotel Innovator of the Year’ during the inaugural year of the Luxury Travel Advisor Awards of Excellence. The same year, he was also shortlisted as one of the nominees for the ‘General Manager of a Luxury Hotel Worldwide’.
Mr. Gelardi has been Managing Director of The Lanesborough since it opened in 1991 having overseen the immensely successful renovation and transformation of one of London’s most prestigious landmarks into The Lanesborough. Of the award he said, “Thank you to the network of Luxury Travel Advisors and editors in presenting me with this honour. All of those present this evening have the unique ability to identify what makes a hotel truly outstanding and I am privileged that you have chosen me as one of the top General Managers of a Luxury Hotel.” He counts himself as being blessed to work with a team of professionals that are instilled with a sense of pride and commitment, commenting “I feel proud to accept this award this evening on their behalf, as I know that they work tirelessly to ensure that The Lanesborough continues to exceed guest expectations and raise the bar in service delivery.”
