Three of Naïade Resorts’ hotels in Mauritius, namely Les Pavillons, Beau Rivage and Legends, have been awarded the Certificate of Good Environmental Practices by SGS (Mauritius) in a ceremony held at the SGS headquarters at the end of December 2010.

The SGS Good Environmental Practices™ Scheme offers regular and independent monitoring to ensure a high level of efficacy and commitment to environmental processes. The award certifies that Les Pavillons, Beau Rivage and Legends together with SGS have successfully completed the mandatory yearly programme, including 4 yearly audits, based on unannounced visits by the experts and a complex evaluation process.

This award also recognizes the portfolio’s efforts to identify, promote and maintain responsible approaches, processes and procedures in its operations as an important stepping stone towards the ISO 14001:2004 certification.

Beyond this certificate being awarded, Naïade (http://naiade.com) has standardized across all their hotels the constant monitoring and optimization of energy and water consumption. In addition to this, several of the hotels have installed and are operating sea water desalination plants, and are successfully recycling waste waters, plastics, paper and cardboard, as well as reusing cooking oil as bio-fuel.

A planting scheme for trees and vegetation has been put in place to compensate for unavoidable CO² emissions, along with constant care for beaches and natural areas surrounding the properties. Naïade prides itself on offering educational programs for all employees but also for the neighborhood schools, to ensure future generations are raised as responsible adults.

This recent certification further consolidates Naïade’s reputation as a leader in environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism, thanks to the efforts and contribution of their valued guests, employees, shareholders and supporting communities. Says Paul Jones, CEO: “We will continue to carefully consider our impact on the environment with every business decision we make, and, together with our partners, to incorporate environmental sustainability into the core strategy of our organization”
