The InterContinental New York Times Square, which opened in New York City in July 2010, has been accepted as the newest member of Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI). Rising 36 stories above the world-famous Times Square district, the property is the largest new-build hotel to open in Manhattan since 2002. The hotel, which features 607 luxurious guest rooms and more than 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space, will now receive dedicated National Sales services and support by ALHI and its professional sales force throughout North America to the meetings and incentive/recognition marketplace.

ALHI (www.alhi.com) is a prestigious dues-based membership National Sales organization, which represents more than 130 Four- and Five-Diamond quality hotels and resorts worldwide to meeting professionals, association executives, incentive/recognition specialists and business executives interested in conducting their face-to-face programs at upper-upper-tier and luxury-level member properties. There is no cost to planners’ or executives’ organizations to utilize the National Sales services, expertise, and account advocacy of ALHI, as its members’ dues fund the national organization to serve planners with local professionals.

InterContinental New York Times Square becomes ALHI’s newest member hotel in New York City, joining the AAA Four-Diamond Jumeirah Essex House overlooking Central Park, the exceptional Loews Regency Hotel New York in the heart of New York City’s exclusive Park Avenue area, and the spectacular 896-room New York Palace Hotel on Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

“New York City continues to be an incredibly popular choice for meetings programs,” said David Gabri, president and CEO of ALHI. “We have so many accounts seeking to conduct programs in ‘The City’ that we needed to augment ALHI’s already outstanding New York City portfolio based upon the accelerating demand for the destination. We are very proud to add the truly impressive and new InterContinental New York Times Square to our exclusive membership. We can’t wait to show planners this incredible new hotel.”

Featuring a chic Manhattan residential feel, InterContinental New York Times Square is ideally situated in Midtown, in the heart of the renowned Broadway Theatre district, just a short stroll from Fifth Avenue shopping, world-class museums, and Restaurant Row. The hotel’s 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space is located on a dedicated meeting floor, and includes the 4,000-square-foot Gotham Park Ballroom, and 10 additional meeting rooms which are each named after Manhattan parks, encompassing the hotel’s theme of natural and environmental elements. Additionally, the hotel’s 2,700-square-foot duplex Presidential Suite and 25 flexible Avenue suites featuring uninterrupted and expansive views of Manhattan can be utilized as event space. Situated on 44th Street just west of Times Square, the hotel is one of the closest hotels to the Javits Convention Center.

Providing panoramic views of Manhattan from virtually every guestroom, the contemporary eco-friendly hotel is pending LEED certification (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) by the U.S. Green Building Council. Upon receiving its certification the hotel will be the largest new-build hotel to achieve LEED status on the Eastern Seaboard. Offerings at the hotel include the French bistro-inspired Ca Va restaurant by Celebrity Chef Todd English, a Concierge Lounge, 24-hour business center, 24-hour fitness center, wired and wireless internet in guestrooms and public areas, 42-inch HDTV flat panel televisions and touch-screen computers in all guestrooms, and a courtyard viewing garden in the lobby complete with a reflecting pool and sculptures.

With a worldwide portfolio of over 100,000 rooms and suites and more than 10 million square feet of meeting space, ALHI provides planners and their organizations experienced National Sales services with diverse options among its outstanding worldwide member hotels and resorts which specialize in meetings and incentive programs.

Meeting professionals, association executives, and incentive specialists have utilized ALHI’s National Sales services for 25 years, with reliable one-call professional sales assistance and access to their distinctive hotels and resorts for meetings and incentive/recognition programs ranging from 10 to more than 6,500 rooms.

Member hotels include extraordinary Four- and Five-Diamond quality meeting and incentive resorts, incomparable city hotels, exclusive smaller hotels, golf resorts, historic and landmark properties, island destinations, resorts with spas, properties in international destinations, and hotels with world-class gaming and entertainment.
