Luxury in a Dramatic Setting Creates a Unique Guest Experience

Top design and architecture firm Perkins Eastman is pleased to join Alliances and Hyatt to celebrate the start of construction of the Park Hyatt Marrakech at Al Maaden in Marrakech, Morocco. The new 35,000 sm (377,000 sf) 131-key hotel, residential, and retail development—located within the Al Maaden development—is designed to offer guests and residents luxurious rooms in a dramatic setting with a view of the Atlas Mountains. Perkins Eastman worked with Site Concepts International from Florida for the landscape design, and SM Design from Paris for the interior design. Construction is expected to be completed in 2013.

Principal Shawn Basler, who leads Perkins Eastman’s growing international hospitality practice, says of the project “Our goal was to create a luxury destination which pays homage to the history of Marrakech and the region through a contemporary interpretation of design and detail.”

Amenities include a resort center, Park Hyatt meeting residences, specialty restaurant, luxury spa, private villas, and an artist’s medina. The hotel has two main pools: an all day pool adjacent to the main restaurant, and a formal pool with infinity edge overlooking an 18-hole golf course and the Atlas Mountain range. A water feature, symbolic of the irrigation basins found in the region, separates the resort from the golf course. The resort is adorned with formal and private gardens, secret spaces, and unique design features which provide the ambiance for this one of a kind destination.

The 131 hotel rooms, with views of the golf course and mountains, are grouped in clusters around a common courtyard. Each guest accommodation is entered through a private interior courtyard with a water feature. Forty-five exclusive villas include a living room, dining room, fireplace, and pool.
