The highly anticipated and recently opened Le Méridien Taipei is pleased to announce the debut of Discovery Art, an exquisite book dedicated to showcasing the nearly 700 works of contemporary art housed in the hotel. In collaboration with My Humble House Art Gallery, Le Méridien Taipei offers an exclusive cultural and artistic experience that greets guests even before they step into the lobby. Le Méridien Taipei challenges the stereotype that art is beyond reach and integrates unique artworks into every corner of the hotel. Guests of Le Méridien Taipei will be pleasantly surprised by the unexpected presence of beautiful and stimulating art at every turn. Discovery Art allows guests to revisit the invigorating memories experienced during their stay or entice first-time visitors to explore the charms of Le Méridien Taipei.

Taking advantage of My Humble House Art Gallery’s expertise and artistic engagement, Le Méridien Taipei offers an extensive collection of contemporary art that stimulates the senses and invites guests to travel with a new perspective. Reflecting the ambiance of Taipei, the theme for Le Méridien Taipei’s selection of artworks is “Light and Shadow.” No matter what season guests choose to visit Taipei, they will never miss the gradual changing -- yet incessant -- interplay of light and shadow, from the constant stream of headlights to the flashing neon lights of shop signs lining the dark alleyways.

“Le Méridien Taipei is committed to bringing a rich and contemporary artistic experience to our guests that inspires visitors to discover travel with a new perspective,” said Daven Tai, general manager. “We are pleased to unveil Discovery Art, a superb keepsake for our creative guests or gift for future visitors.”

Le Méridien Taipei has gathered an impressive collection of artworks by a number of artists from Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, England, Belgium, and the United States and seamlessly integrated them into the relaxed space of the hotel. This modest approach to displaying priceless works of art creates an unprecedented visual journey for guests, inviting them to experience art in new ways and create precious memories.

The artwork throughout the hotel’s entrance is a signature element of Le Méridien’s arrival experience, one of the brand’s features designed to reset guests’ minds upon arrival, leaving the outside world behind and opening their mind for the world of Le Méridien. Once guests step foot inside the hotel, they will be enveloped by Le Méridien brand’s signature scent, sound and use of light. A final component of the arrival experience is the Le Méridien UNLOCK ART programme, which includes an artist-designed key card collection that offers complimentary access to a local cultural institution – the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei.

Chic and minimalistic, the 160-room Le Méridien Taipei goes beyond the traditional five-star hotel experience and invites guests and the local community to discover more than just a new destination – to experience a new perspective with a focus on contemporary art and cuisine. Le Méridien Taipei introduces the signature arrival experience programme for Le Méridien brand in Taiwan; a comprehensive contemporary art program “light and shadow; two inspiring new restaurant concepts: Humble House and Latest Recipe; an innovative coffee and chocolate café ChocoArt; and the chic lobby lounge bar Latitude 25 as well as the hotel’s destination bar Quube. In addition, Le Méridien Taipei offers 1,700 square meters of contemporary meeting and function space which makes the hotel a perfect destination for creative workshops or board meetings.

Located in the most cosmopolitan district of Taipei – Xinyi District – and steps away from local cultural offerings, Le Méridien brand’s first hotel in Taiwan ushers in a new dimension of timeless chic and is a gathering place for creative guests, with an emphasis on the arts, an inspiring atmosphere, and innovative cuisine. Going beyond the notion that a hotel should purely be a functional space for sleeping, Le Méridien Taipei offers guests unforgettable experiences that stimulate creativity and appeal to all five senses.
