$10.4 million renovation expected to be completed in January

The region’s premier hotel is getting a bold new look. Officials from Seneca Gaming Corporation today provided a first look at the newly renovated rooms at the 604-room Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls. The initial phase of work includes new bedding, carpeting, furniture and wall coverings, as well as crown molding, lighting adjustments and other amenities in all of the hotel’s 486 deluxe rooms and 86 corner suites. This marks the first significant renovation since the hotel opened on December 31, 2005.

“The hotel tower at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel redefined not only the Niagara Falls skyline six years ago, but also the standard of luxury in the Western New York marketplace,” said Karen Karsten, Chairman of the Seneca Gaming Corporation Board of Directors. “As a company that prides itself on the service and comfort we provide our more than six million annual visitors, we are committed to making investments that will ensure that our guests enjoy the finest possible experience every time they walk through our doors and choose to stay with us.”

Five of the hotel’s 23 floors have been completed to date. Officials expect the $10.4 million project to be completed in January 2012. Plans to renovate the hotel’s 22 center suites are currently being developed.

The new look hotel rooms will only add to the exemplary reputation Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel has earned in the hospitality industry. Seneca Gaming Corporation announced today that the hotel has received the coveted Four Diamond Award® from AAA for the sixth consecutive year. The award recognizes hotels that are upscale in all areas, providing guests with accommodations that are progressively more refined and stylish, according to AAA.

“Seneca Niagara is an incredible resort destination, one that we believe is on par with any in the country,” added Cathy Walker, Seneca Gaming Corporation President and CEO. “We have established a reputation as one of the finest gaming and entertainment properties in North America and we look forward to more people discovering the Seneca Niagara difference in the coming weeks and months.”

The 26-story hotel tower at Seneca Niagara is the largest hotel in Western New York and occupancy rates have consistently been in the 95 percent range with many weeks being completely booked, according to company officials. In addition to its 604 hotel rooms, Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel features 147,000 square feet of world-class gaming, with more than 4,000 slot machines and 100 table games; two performance venues, including the 2,400-seat Seneca Events Center and the 468- seat Bear’s Den Showroom; five restaurants and multiple other dining options; a fullservice spa and salon; an indoor swimming pool; multiple retail outlets; and a variety of banquet, meeting and conference rooms. The property recently received 23 top-three honors in the “Best in Gaming 2011” survey from Casino Player magazine.

A number of Western New York companies are involved in the renovation project. Seneca Construction Management Corporation is serving as the project’s construction manager, while Huber Construction of Depew is the general contractor. Local subcontractors include Antone/IPL of Buffalo (electrical contractor) and RW Painting of Orchard Park (painting/wall covering contractor). “We are making this investment and undertaking this substantial renovation project well ahead of when other hotels might,” explained Robert Chamberlain, Seneca Gaming Corporation Senior Vice President of Design and Construction. “With the popularity of the hotel and the sheer number of visitors and room nights we have seen over the past six years, we wanted to make a bold new statement that reinforces that Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel is the home of unmatched luxury and comfort.”

The renovation of hotel rooms at its flagship property is just one of several large-scale projects Seneca Gaming Corporation is undertaking. The company announced earlier this month that it will add a new, 200-room hotel tower at Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel in Salamanca. A timetable for that project has not yet been determined.
