Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) has received two honors for being a technology visionary and industry role model for business and technology excellence.

Marriott was named by IDG’s CIO magazine to its CIO 100 list which recognizes organizations around the world that are using technology in innovative ways to deliver business value and create a competitive advantage. Marriott was selected for its work in transforming the networks of more than 2,500 properties worldwide. The transformation gave properties more operational flexibility and significantly lowered costs, while positioning the company for future transformational initiatives. This customizable solution epitomizes Marriott’s objective to personalize connectivity options for our customers, owners, franchisees and associates by enabling properties to access Marriott information in a way that best suits their needs.

Marriott has also been named a Laureate by Computerworld magazine as part of IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program that recognizes the achievements of organizations around the world whose visionary applications of information technology promote positive social, economic and educational change. Marriott was the only lodging company recognized by Computerworld. In 2006, companies from 23 countries were honored through this award program.

Marriott was named a Computerworld Honors Laureate for its ambitious, multi-year initiative to expand its industry-leading, integrated global reservations system and Marriott.com site. These powerful systems supported more than 69.5 million new reservations in 2005, and Marriott.com’s enhanced infrastructure enabled 100 percent growth in Internet sales from 2003 to 2005 through significant enhancements to the online guest experience, focused search capabilities, and powerful email marketing tools.

“These awards demonstrate Marriott’s position as an innovator and leader within the hospitality and travel industry. We are committed to integrating business practices and technology solutions to enhance our guests’ experiences, deliver value to our owners and franchisees, and enable our associates to provide Marriott’s personalized service every day,” said Carl Wilson, Marriott International’s executive vice president and chief information officer.

Marriott is frequently acknowledged by leading publications for using technology to shape and enable business initiatives and fostering a positive work environment for its IT professionals. In 2005, Marriott was named to the InformationWeek 500 for the seventh consecutive year and was the highest ranked hospitality and travel company on that list for the second straight year. Also in 2005, Marriott was named to Computerworld’s Top 100 “Best Places to Work in IT” list for the third consecutive year.
