Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong offers a variety of events for guests over the Chinese New Year holiday to make the arrival of the Year of the Dragon a memorable occasion.

“Fortune” Dinner Menus
From 1 January to 15 February 2012, Michelin two-star Shang Palace presents guests with two auspicious “fortune” set dinner menus, specially created by Executive Chinese Chef Mok Kit Keung to delight the discerning palate. Priced at HK$7,888 per table of 12 persons, the 10-course set menu features Roasted Whole Suckling Pig or Chilled Fresh Sliced Salmon with Pomelo, Chinese Pickles and Young Ginger; Sautéed Scallops and Pacific Clams with Red Rice Sauce; Double Boiled Bird’s Nest with Matsutake Mushrooms and Bamboo Fungus; Steamed Twin Spotted Garoupa; Deep Fried Lung Kong Chicken; Stewed Sliced Abalone with Dried Oysters and Seasonal Vegetables; Fried Sticky Rice with Air Dried Meat; Fresh Shrimp Dumplings in Supreme Soup; Hot Sweetened Red Bean Cream with Sticky Rice Dumplings; and Chinese Petite Fours.

Priced at HK$9,888 per table of 12 persons, the highlights of the second set menu includes Sautéed King Prawns with Black Truffle Paste; Braised Supreme Bird’s Nest Soup with Crab Roe and Crabmeat; Sautéed Scallops and Sliced Conch with XO Chilli Sauce; Steamed Twin Spotted Garoupa; Braised Sliced Abalone, Sea Cucumber, Fish Maw and Sea Moss; Deep Fried Crispy Chicken with Golden Almond Flakes; Braised E fu Noodles with Crabmeat; Fried Rice with Seafood and Crispy Conpoy; Double Boiled Sweetened Egg White Topped with Ginger Juice; and Chinese Petite Fours.

Guests can also toss for bountiful fortunes with Lo Hei Yusheng and enjoy Lucky Dim Sum and Lunar New Year specialities with family and friends to welcome a prosperous year from 23 January to 6 February 2012. For reservations, please call (852) 2733 8754.

From 22 to 25 January 2012, Café Kool presents guests with auspicious Chinese New Year lunch and dinner buffets highlighting traditional Chinese cuisine. The price for the festive lunch buffet starts from HK$338 per adult and HK$278 per child. The price for the festive dinner buffet starts from HK$538 per adult and HK$438 per child. With live music in a classic and elegant setting, guests can delight in the festive afternoon tea buffet featuring Chinese longevity noodles and delicacies at The Lobby Lounge. Chinese New Year Cookies, Puddings and Hampers
Chef Mok and his team at the Michelin two-star Shang Palace at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong prepare for guests a range of great value Chinese New Year puddings, gift packs and hampers to welcome the Year of the Dragon. Depicting uniqueness, completeness, elite and togetherness, the Chinese Zodiac Oneness cookies are made with white lotus seed paste or red bean paste and crispy biscuits, and brushed with gold powder that is believed to be good for health and complexion.
