$1 Million Renovation Enhances the Already Stunning Large Event Space

The Fairmont San Francisco’s Grand Ballroom has undergone a $1 million renovation and now includes décor that pays homage to the hotel’s celebrated classic architectural details while incorporating a forward-thinking fashion statement. The updated Grand Ballroom was revealed to the public on January 11th during the first event to take place in the transformed setting.

“The Grand Ballroom is The Fairmont San Francisco’s largest event space and offers an exquisite option for those looking to celebrate a special occasion or hold a large-scale event,” comments Regional Vice President and General Manager Thomas Klein. “The Grand Ballroom has undergone a refreshing makeover that is a nod to its storied history complemented by some unique modern touches.”

ForrestPerkins, a world renowned U.S.-based interior architecture and design firm that specializes in luxury and landmark hotels, resorts, spas and multi-residential projects has updated the ballroom to present this whimsical marriage of historic and contemporary style. Spanning more than 11,000 square feet, The Fairmont San Francisco’s Grand Ballroom has played host to world leaders, famed entertainers and some of the city’s most notable events since
1961.

The ForrestPerkins design dream team included design director Clifford Tuttle, ASID, LEED®ID+C, NEWH, project manager Elizabeth Dillon, Brittany Spinner and Christine Ley.

“Owing to the historical considerations of this landmark property atop San Francisco’s Nob Hill, the design for the Grand Ballroom is an icon of contemporary San Francisco,” says Clifford Tuttle.

Custom designed carpeting depicts traditional damask elements with a fanciful lace design. New neutral toned wall upholstery with metallic highlights provides a subtle echo to the damask pattern making an elegant fashion statement. Ajuro wood wallcovering in a starburst pattern with a glistening metallic finish and Swarovski crystals sparkle at the Juliet balconies.

The grandeur of the new Grand Ballroom coupled with The Fairmont San Francisco’s reputation for impeccable service promises a truly memorable experience for meetings, social functions, and family gatherings.
