For the Second Consecutive Year Samsung Brings Minimalist Luxury Backstage on Awards Night

When all eyes are on the red carpet during one of Hollywood’s biggest nights, celebrity’s eyes will be on the virtually edgeless picture delivered by Samsung’s flagship LED TV. For the second consecutive year, Samsung will bring its stunning 8000 Series LED TVs to the Architectural Digest Greenroom, the exclusive backstage lounge for awards-night presenters and honorees.

Inspired by Hollywood of the 1930s and 40s, this year’s Architectural Digest Greenroom will be styled by distinguished designer Waldo Fernandez, who will bring his signature California style and subtle sophistication to create an atmosphere that’s both relaxed and enchanting. In total, thirteen of Samsung’s ultra-slim 55” D8000 LED TVs will be displayed throughout the room. As celebrities enter they will be greeted with a gorgeous visual display of nine TVs showcasing iconic images from the past eight decades. The virtually edgeless design and stunning high-definition picture quality will produce a breathtakingly real view into Hollywood’s golden era and create a video wall unlike any other. The four remaining TVs will play the live awards telecast for all guests, presenters and honorees that enter.

This year the Greenroom will also feature one of Samsung’s newly announced 2012 LED TVs. The 55” ES8000 LED TV – complemented by a new metallic U-shape stand that forms a harmonious composition of straight lines and curves – will be a centerpiece and social media hub throughout the night. Building off Samsung’s ultra-slim bezel design first introduced in 2011, the ES8000 pushes the boundaries of minimalist style and innovative technology bringing rich colors, bright pictures and high contrast ratios to a large screen, for a truly immersive and eye catching experience.

“Waldo’s long-standing connection to the Hollywood community, coupled with his signature California-casual style made him the perfect choice to create the Greenroom on behalf of Architectural Digest this year,” says Margaret Russell, editor-in-chief of Architectural Digest. “His design embodies the height of Hollywood glamour, beautifully reinterpreted to reflect a modern aesthetic which is only enhanced by this gorgeous Samsung LED TV.”

Each Samsung TV will be fashioned to the wall with Samsung’s Ultra Slim Wall Mount – the innovative cord-and-disc system – that virtually hugs the wall for an undisruptive, uncluttered and sleek finish.

“I wanted this year’s Architectural Digest Greenroom to be a place where the charm and excitement of Hollywood’s golden era fused with a modern sleek, chic polish of today,” stated designer Waldo Fernandez. “The timeless elegance, unique style and visual innovation that embody Samsung’s LED TVs made it the perfect choice to compliment my vision – bringing both clean lines and eye popping images to the room.”

The Samsung ES8000 LED TV, releasing in March 2012, will feature Smart Interaction technology that enables users to communicate with their TVs via voice control, motion control and face recognition. Through a built-in HD camera the ES8000 recognizes movement in the foreground and two unidirectional array microphones recognize voice at an incredibly accurate rate. The ES8000 also features a wealth of smart content, including hundreds of Samsung Apps, as well as AllShare Play, which enables consumers to easily access personal content across multiple device screens – anywhere, anytime.

In addition, Samsung’s LED Smart TVs offer built-in WiFi and a Twitter app that will allow Architectural Digest to show what’s trending about the awards in real-time on Twitter.
