Green Globe announced certification of De Hotels van Oranje in Noordwijk, Netherlands. This luxury property pioneered green hotel initiatives in the Netherlands and has demonstrated corporate social responsibility and sustainable practices for years.

“We are very proud to be one of the first 5-star hotels in the Netherlands to earn the prestigious Green Globe Certification,” said Jaap Liethof, General Manager at De Hotels van Oranje, “The green philosophy has grown to become a core value of our business and this achievement would not be possible without our dedicated staff. We created a special Green Team, consisting of employees from different departments, to continuously improve our sustainability policy. In addition, we offer intensive training sessions to all our staff members. We strive to include our partners, customers, staff, and local communities where relevant to contribute to a better environment.”

The Hotels van Oranje implemented a long-term sustainability management system, and energy goals are strictly monitored. Beach Club O makes use of a unique heat/cold storage system, and the entire property is equipped with LED lighting. A water reduction plan and comprehensive waste separation are in place to minimize the environmental impact, and the property follows a strict recycling and reuse policy. Fair trade and local goods, products, and services are given preference, wherever possible. Furthermore, the Hotels van Oranje actively promotes small local businesses, developing sustainable products that are based on the area’s culture and history and showcases art, handcrafts, cultural performances, and traditional cuisine, available to hotel guests.

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, said, “We are delighted to certify De Hotels van Oranje in the Netherlands, and I am impressed with the solid sustainability standards they have established. Within a very short period of time, this property accomplished a milestone with their innovative environmental practices, and leads by example in the Dutch hotel industry.”
