Following a successful inaugural launch, Corinthia Hotel London announced its second Corinthia Artist in Residence program by issuing an experiential theatre brief for 2013. The unique initiative, which champions British nurtured talent within different disciplines of the arts, will see the luxury hotel become the set for an exhilarating immersive theatre experience allowing guests and visitors to become part of a production.

Applications are now open for individual playwrights and theatre companies based in Britain to submit a fast-moving theatrical performance to take place in the hotel with a minimum of six scenes. Applicants will be able to take inspiration from the extraordinary and ordinary life that goes on inside a hotel whether under the soaring dome of Corinthia London’s Lobby Lounge, the intimate grandeur of a private dining room, or the ultra luxurious surroundings of a penthouse suite.

Corinthia London has partnered with the Bush Theatre, renowned for being the home of new writing, which will be sending out the details of the application process to its members. The application will also be distributed to agents and the theatre world and available online at www.corinthia.com/london/artist-in-residence .

An accomplished panel of judges will come together at Corinthia London in September to select a winner of this breakthrough initiative. Experts include Ed Vaizey MP, Minister for Culture, Communications&Creative Industries, and Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens, who have previously appeared on the panel. They will be joined by new panel members Madani Younis, Artistic Director of The Bush, and Yana Peel, CEO, Intelligence Squared.

The chosen winner will then take up the residence at Corinthia London for up to a month to fully realize their creative vision. Tickets will be available to hotel guests and members of the public in Spring 2013. Those who purchase tickets will be ushered into each scene to play a bespoke part as they react to situations set up by permanent cast members.

The first Corinthia Artist in Residence program saw photographic artist Noémie Goudal create three large-scale pieces of work under the brief of “Unknown Views” for display in the hotel.

Matthew Dixon, General Manager, Corinthia Hotel London, said: “Our first Corinthia Artist in Residence program was very well received. With this second residency, we are pushing the boundaries even further, using the hotel as an artistic base to stage this progressive and very exciting form of theatre. I look forward to reviewing the applications and seeing what lies in store for our hotel guests and arts enthusiasts.”
