The Bath Priory is delighted to have been awarded a Michelin star following the release of the Michelin Guide 2013.

Executive Chef Sam Moody joined the Bath Priory in 2009 and now heads up a young team who produce an impeccable menu serving British cuisine. At just 28 years old Sam is one of the youngest winners this year and this is testament to his passion and hard work.

Sam Moody says ‘The Michelin guide is arguably the most revered restaurant guide amongst chefs, restaurant critics and guests alike and we are honored to be granted this prestigious award. The team has worked so hard to deliver a consistently high standard of food and regaining the star for Bath Priory is a fantastic achievement’

The menu at The Bath Priory offers a selection of modern British dishes with signature style using locally sourced produce. Expect to see dishes such as Plate of local rabbit, crispy smoked ham hock, pease pudding and mustard jus; Pan fried Brixham sea bass, parsnip and ginger puree, chicken and vanilla jus roti and Set buttermilk cream, sherry roasted figs and, honeycomb.

Sam Moody began his career at Ockenden Manor Hotel where he gained his first experience of working in a Michelin starred kitchen. Moving onto Gidleigh Park, which holds two Michelin stars under the Executive chef Michael Caines, Sam’s passion for food was firmly established. When Michael took on the role as Executive Chef for The Bath Priory he moved Sam there as Sous Chef and a promotion to Head Chef soon followed. In the role for three years, Sam has grown and developed his own team and the food they produce demonstrates their total commitment to fine cuisine.

Built in 1835 as a private residence on land once owned by The Priory of Bath Abbey, The Bath Priory is tucked away in a tranquil corner of the city, only a short stroll from the Georgian city centre. The hotel comes with three acres of landscaped garden nurtured by Chelsea Flower Show medal-winner Jane Moore and offers a Garden Spa complete with indoor and outdoor pools, fitness suite and full range of beauty treatments.
