The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh has just undergone a major £multi-million refurbishment to coincide with its 25 year anniversary. A key objective for the refurbishment was to deliver a superb and intuitive guest experience, enabled by the best inroom and out-of-room technology to be found in any Edinburgh hotel.
The Sheraton Grand has been a Quadriga customer since its opening 25 years ago and was one of the first hotels to adopt its Sensiq TV-based guest communications platform over 2 years ago.

Quadriga’s Sensiq TV platform provides the hotel with a unique way to provide hotel and service information and communicate special offers to guests. This includes promoting its restaurant and food and beverage facilities, its One Spa facilities and communicating the benefits of SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty programme). Additionally guests benefit from being able to access useful information on what to do and see in Edinburgh.
Following the extensive refurbishment, the hotel is now harnessing Sensiq’s powerful Content Management System to provide targeted information and promotional campaigns to enhance guest satisfaction, but also encourage potential new revenue streams.

Quadriga worked with the Sheraton Grand to tailor Sensiq to reflect their brand as well as to integrate their specific content to promote directly to guests via the in-room TV. Sensiq provides the hotel with the opportunity to reinforce their brand and create a specific desired guest experience.

Guests can enjoy fast and easy access to a huge range of entertainment content via the in-room TV, selected specifically to meet their needs including a wide range of on-demand movie content, music titles, TV channels and World Radio.
Additionally, the hotel ensures that guests can enjoy the same easy access to entertainment content as they experience at home, via their various personal mobile devices:
• Flexible bandwidth solutions ensure that hotel guests can download and stream video content for example via their mobile devices from anywhere throughout the hotel.
• Each guest room is fitted with a bespoke Media Hub to enable guests to connect their own devices such as an iPad, mobile phone and digital camera to the LCD TV, using bluetooth technology.

Guest High Speed Internet service
WiFi throughout the hotel
Quadriga has enabled a fully integrated High Speed Internet solution providing wired & WiFi connectivity in all rooms as well as WiFi throughout all public areas and the hotel’s full suite of meeting rooms.
Guests enjoy a seamless roaming experience from public areas to in-room and the hotel is able to promote a different pre-portal to guests depending on where in the hotel they connect.
Bandwidth management and integrated guest network
Flexible bandwidth to accommodate guest needs
The hotel’s Internet service now provides guests with a standard 10mb upload as well as download capability, which can be expanded in 20mb increments, to a maximum of 100mb. This inherent flexibility ensures that the hotel can address the growing bandwidth challenge and all guest internet requirements are met, be it for downloading business documents or streaming video to their mobile devices. It also ensures that the hotel can easily support the needs of conference delegates, providing confidence and reassurance to the corporate client.
Integrated Guest IP Network
In addition to partnering the hotel to manage and optimise its available bandwidth, Quadriga also provides a fully integrated guest IP network capability which supports IPTV, WiFi and such guest services as the Link @ Sheraton, experienced with Microsoft, a unique communications hub in the hotel lobby providing complimentary WiFi and PC workstations so guests can surf the Internet, email loved ones, review local attractions and print boarding passes while on the road.
Bespoke Digital Signage solution
Quadriga has also provided the hotel with a bespoke Digital Signage solution, which offers not only ‘way finding’ but the ability to display advertisements and various hotel promotional offers through the strategically sited LCD TVs in the public areas and meeting rooms. This serves to enhance guest satisfaction as well as stimulate new revenue opportunities for the hotel.
