Nigel Boschetti, Executive Chef at Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel, has been awarded the distinguished title of Hotel Chef of the Year (over 250 covers) at the Hotel Catey Awards 2012. The Hotel Cateys reward the most impressive talents in the hotel industry. The award was presented at an evening of celebrations at the Lancaster London hotel and attended by 750 guests.

Nigel is one of Grosvenor House’s strongest assets. An eminently accomplished and gifted chef, he is the first Executive Chef to take oversee all food and beverage outlets and banqueting in London’s largest five star hotel. His innovative and passionate approach holds him in high esteem as an industry leader. In addition to motivating and managing a team of over 70 chefs, Nigel invests a great deal of time in encouraging burgeoning talents from underprivileged backgrounds, as well as assisting in the rehabilitation of ex-offenders by giving them a chance to work in his kitchen.

Nigel’s skills as a businessman and manager impressed the panel of judges at this year’s awards. Under his stewardship, Grosvenor House has gone from strength to strength; covers have risen, Food Quality and Event Satisfaction Scores have greatly improved, food expenditure reduced, JW Steakhouse has been honoured with awards and recognition and profits have soared. Nigel’s responsibilities include leading a team of over 70 chefs, menu planning, managing profit and health and safety.

Nigel is responsible for JW Steakhouse, The Park Room with its award-winning Afternoon Tea, Red Bar, 86 Park Lane (dedicated meetings suite of 20 rooms), Park Lane Market, the Executive Lounge and In-Room Dining. Nigel’s speciality is in catering for large and high-profile events and at Grosvenor House. Conference and Banqueting accounts for 72.5% of the hotel’s annual food turnover, with the Great Room (banqueting for up to 2000 covers) alone holding up to 300 functions per year and is Europe’s largest hotel ballroom.

Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel opened its doors to the public in May 1929 and quickly established itself as the glamorous home of the society set and wealthy Americans, attracting a fashionable crowd from Edward VIII and Mrs. Simpson to Ella Fitzgerald and Jacqueline Onassis.
