With just 15 tents and one two-bedroom Explorer's Lodge, patchy WiFi and no in-room television – guests have no choice but to detox - digitally, mentally and emotionally,” smiles Camp Manager Tobias Emmer, addingExpect to hear birdsong from the spa, cicadas humming at night, frogs calling, and even an elephant or two chatting in the distance! If you wake up early enough one morning, you can soak in the thick fog banks as they wash away to reveal the lush bamboo jungle just a few feet away.”

Ideally suited for family travel and adventure, the safari-style Explorer’s Lodge is a jungle refuge with a spacious deck, featuring an outdoor plunge pool and stunning views. “Picture being nestled amid lush wilderness, while still enjoying impeccable Four Seasons service and facilities,” remarks Tobias.

The Explorer’s Lodge Experience Package for friends and families with children (above 10 years old) offers plenty of opportunity to relax and connect with each other while soaking in the stunning surroundings. Guests can interact with elephants or explore the vibrant Golden Triangle. “The highlight for me is spending an afternoon on the deck, enjoying a swim in the private pool overlooking incredible jungle views,” shares Tobias. In the evening, the deck can be prepared for a barbecue under the stars, with sundowners to soak in the beautiful sunset.

While guests may feel compelled to indulge in the Explorer’s Lodge experience, the exotic surrounding region of the Golden Triangle beckon adventurers. “The Hall of Opium museum gives you a very good understanding of the region’s history and culture,” explains Tobias. “Other sites I recommend are the temples of Wat Huay Pla Kung and Wat Rong Khun. With such close proximity to Myanmar, the half-day visit to the border town of Takilek in Myanmar is a must-do,” he recommends.
