Deutsche Hospitality operates five hotel brands on three continents. The internationality and diversity of its business thrives on the seamless and constant exchange of knowledge across borders. The group’s “Staff training staff” project enables this store of expertise to be tapped into and makes knowledge available to employees in a targeted way via the use of the e-learning software “SlidePresenter”. The jury for this year’s eLearning Award, which is organised by the eLearning Journal, looked at 200 submissions from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and selected innovative and pioneering projects in more than 50 categories. In the “User-generated content” category, the jury members were won over by the “Staff training staff” project which went on to secure a 2020 eLearning AWARD.

We are delighted by this team success, ”said Ulrich Bensel, Vice President Group Human Resources, Deutsche Hospitality. “The experts at Deutsche Hospitality hotels and at the Corporate Office possess excellent, comprehensive and valuable knowledge within their fields. We are now able to digitalise this specific know-how, and practical videos embedded in our eCampus allow it to be shared rapidly and easily.”

“Thanks to the simple and intuitive way in which the new application works, colleagues can act independently to prepare brief training videos on selected topics relating to their daily work,” added Sebastian Walker, Managing Director of SlidePresenter GmbH. “These are then made available to their co-workers, thus permitting staff to become internal influencers offering solutions to problems in a wide variety of specialist areas.”

Videos can be accessed via mobile devices at any time and in any location. A whole library of training videos made by staff for staff is thus gradually being accumulated. Topics covered include the preparation of gourmet specialities, hotel reception processes, a huge range of housekeeping tasks and many more. As well as reinforcing the learning outcomes of staff training programmes, these videos also foster transparency, visibility, networking and the sharing of knowledge within Deutsche Hospitality.

Deutsche Hospitality brings together five separate hotel brands under a single umbrella. Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts has 60 hotels housed in historic traditional buildings and lively city residences and also offers health and beauty oases set at the very heart of nature. MAXX by Steigenberger is a new and charismatic concept which places the focus on the essential in accordance with its motto “MAXXimize your stay”. Jaz in the City branded hotels reflect metropolitan lifestyle and draw upon the local music and cultural scene. IntercityHotel offers more than 40 upper midrange urban hotels, all of which are located within easy walking distance of railway stations or airports. And Zleep Hotels – a well-known and successful hotel brand in Scandinavia which offer service and design at a great rate for the many. The portfolio of Deutsche Hospitality currently includes almost 150 hotels on three continents 30 of which are in the pipeline.
