Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I in Barcelona has been awarded the highest level of certification by SGS, the world leading inspection, verification, testing and certification, in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of it’s clients by implementing additional cleaning measures throughout the hotel. Successfully verified by SGS, Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I has received the Accor ALLSAFE seal and will continue to recieve visits from SGS inspectors. Alongside the SGS ALLSAFE seal, Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I has been certified by The Spanish Institiute for Tourist Quality for Safe Tourism which acknowledges the hotels compliance with the requirments of this standard for its category and/or official classification.

Focusing on maintaining high sanitary standards, the ALLSAFE seal is divided into three stages, beginning with the definition of good practices and incorporation of local regulations and recommendations. The next step was the creation of a reference guide by Accor, followed by an external certificate proving the strict adherence to these practices.

“Hand in hand with SGS, one of the largest networks of hygiene and prevention specialists in the world, we will work to make our number one priority a reality at this time: converting Accor hotels in southern Europe into places where maximum security prevails both for employees as customers”, stated Cristina Ramos, SVO Operations at Accor for Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Malta. " With this collaboration with SGS we go beyond good intentions and to ensure the commitments acquired in safety and hygiene, we will grant the ALLSAFE seal exclusively to those hotels that have obtained this external certification," says Ramos.

“As a regular traveler, the added value of the security of knowing that the hygienic conditions in the hotel where I stay are equivalent to those of my own home is very important to me. This alliance with Accor Southern Europe Group in its “ALLSAFE” program confirms this added value, and the confidence of knowing that its hotels take care of the safety of their clients as much as SGS of ours. Using our network of specialists we will be able to verify compliance, by establishments, with the demanding protocols defined by Accor regarding hygiene and prevention ”, says Peter Possemiers, EVP of SGS Environment, Health and Safety.

Issues that SGS inspections will address include verification of cleanliness and disinfection; water safety and residue testing; indoor air quality; employee safety; emergency response services; and the long-term continuity of the initiative.

To promote the recovery of traveler's trust and in line with the group's transparency codes, it is possible to check the certification on the hotels website. Additionally, a QR code will be granted allowing access to said information in real time.
