Forbes Travel Guide has unveiled its official 2021 Star Awards rating announcement, awarding both Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva and its iconic Spa Mont Blanc a Five Star rating, its highest honour. For the second year running, the property is the only hotel in Switzerland to receive a Five-Star designation in addition to a Five-Star Award for its Spa Mont Blanc.

“I am extremely proud of our team for this remarkable achievement. It reflects our passion, dedication and desire to offer guests the highest level of service and attention. In these difficult times, we are more than ever committed to creating meaningful and emotional moments for our guests to reconnect with loved ones through landmark culinary experiences or highly personalised Spa experiences,” comments Martin Rhomberg, Regional Vice President and General Manager.

Founded in 1834, Geneva’s historical landmark offers 115 rooms and suites artfully blending classic and contemporary styles. The Hotel is renowned for its culinary excellence, home to Michelin-starred Italian restaurant Il Lago and fusion Japanese restaurant Izumi, which serves Nikkei cuisine in a stunning rooftop setting.

Spread out over the top three floors of the Hotel, Spa Mont Blanc is a haven of peace, with large windows commanding panoramic views of Geneva and the surrounding snow-capped mountains. Offering a range of treatments, the Spa has a hammam, a heated indoor swimming pool and a vitality pool with water jets to help relieve tired and aching muscles while improving circulation and detoxifying the skin. The state-of-the-art fitness centre is equipped with the latest Technogym and Matrix equipment for cardiovascular and strength training.

“These 2021 award winners are a testament to the resiliency of the hospitality industry,” said Filip Boyen, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide. “During an unprecedented time, these top properties adapted to numerous adversities all while maintaining high service levels and ensuring the health security of their guests and staff.” He added, “We hope that these excellent properties will inspire travellers for when they are ready to venture out on their next trip.”

Methodology

Star ratings are awarded by a team of anonymous professional inspectors who travel the world to assess hotels, restaurants and spas based on 900 objective standards. Star ratings ultimately emphasise quality of service. Five-Star properties are defined as “outstanding, often iconic properties with virtually flawless service and amazing facilities.” Properties were inspected prior to the pandemic and when regional restrictions allowed for the safe return of guests.
