As Italy commemorates the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death, guests of the Savoy can discover Florence and Tuscany by tracings his footsteps through the city and idyllic villages on a journey called the “Le Vie di Dante”.

Visit the places in Florence and Tuscany where the great Florentine poet, best known for writing The Divine Comedy, spent his life starting from the typical streets of the city and then onto the villages of Scarperia and San Piero, Borgo San Lorenzo and Marradi.

Take a stroll around the corner from the Savoy to the house of Dante and discover the secrets of his estranged true love Beatrice, as well as the Church of Santa Maria dei Cerchi, where the pair were said to have first met before the start of their love story.

In the city, you will have the chance to admire the exteriors of Palazzo Strozzi and its major new installation by acclaimed French contemporary artist JR, whose site-specific artwork La Ferita (The Wound) has reinterpreted the façade of the Renaissance palazzo, to trigger a debate on the accessibility of culture in the age of Covid-19.

From 28 May to 22 August, Palazzo Strozzi will be also hosting American Art 1961–2001, a major exhibition taking a completely new look at the history of modern art in the United States between two key moments in US history, the Vietnam War and the attack on the Twin Towers, with a superb selection of works by such celebrated artists such as Andy Warhol, Mark Rothko, Louise Nevelson and many others.

Walking around the centre of Florence, food and wine enthusiasts will be able to experience another new attraction with the comeback of the tiny 180 “buchette del vino”: small “wine windows” emerging from the façades of ancient palaces, and through which, over the course of three centuries, millions of bottles and glasses of local wine were bought and sold. Today, the little holes have been reopened keeping their charm intact and have become the protagonists of fun guided walking and cycling routes through the streets of Florence and the surrounding hills.

Rocco Forte Hotels continues to encourage people to travel again by offering the unmissable package #Inlove with Florence – A sun kissed Florentine break and visit Florence with its Baroque architecture and Renaissance art.
