Entitled Working together towards successful recovery, the Corporate Advisory Board was established as a platform for a group of leading travel and hotel buyers in Europe to come together to address issues ranging from forecasting travel, resourcing, Corporate Social Responsibility, risk, technology, and RFPs.

A diverse group of IHG’s European corporate clients from various sectors including banking, consultancy, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) came together with IHG experts from sales, RFP strategy, Corporate Responsibility, technology, and operations to discuss key industry issues and solutions.

Today, IHG’s Europe Corporate Advisory Board has revealed some of the top priorities for its corporate clients as they look ahead to 2022.

Finding solutions to sustainability reporting

This continues to be a critical need for corporates as they look at how they can implement more environmentally friendly travel policies.

Earlier this year, IHG unveiled its Journey to Tomorrow, a series of ambitious new commitments to make a positive difference for people, communities and planet over the next decade – enabled by collaboration with those who stay, work and partner with IHG.

Guided by this approach, and building on existing offerings, IHG continues to engage with industry peers and partners across the travel ecosystem around opportunities to make sustainability information even more consistent and accessible for travel managers and travellers.

An industry-wide solution to the annualised RFP process

This is still often perceived as an elusive wish for corporates and a pain point for many.

Based on discussion and feedback from the corporate advisory board, IHG is looking at how best to streamline the RFP process and make life easier for all involved. One way is by piloting a new pre-populated RFP template with standardised questions from its hotels.

Win-win deals for both corporates and suppliers

During the advisory board discussions, the importance of real-time data exchange was raised, ensuring that information could be shared between parties on a consistent basis rather than solely in an annual RFP negotiation. The aim of IHG’s Europe Corporate Advisory Board has been to create a positive industrywide impact and generate solutions that will support ways of working and recovery in a variety of ways.

Clare Francis of Willis Towers Watson, an active member of the IHG Europe Corporate Advisory Board shared her thoughtsThe enthusiasm within the group has been fantastic, IHG has shown dedication and determination to make this work from the start. The areas of focus discussed have been key to most travel buyers in 2021 and into next year. Important topics that we look forward to discussing further in future corporate advisory boards include diversity & inclusion and continuous sourcing.”

Debbie Male – Head of Sales for IHG Hotels & Resorts in Europe commented: ‘The long-term objective of our Europe corporate advisory board is to conceptualise innovative solutions that will demonstrate IHG’s commitment to adapt to a new world of travel alongside our customers. As we’ve seen corporate travel returning to some sort of normality in recent months, it has been our wish to work with our clients towards a successful return, looking for opportunities and addressing key challenges we are all are facing together as a result of the pandemic.”

“We remain confident that these unique interactions with our clients will not only bring solutions to some key fundamental issues affecting our industry, but hopefully address some historical challenges overall, that have been a burden to both client and supplier for a long time.” added Male.
