Marriott International launched an Australia-wide program today, offering their 2,500 associates flexible access to personal and professional development opportunities across all aspects of the world-famous hospitality business.

The “Life With the Works” campaign creates a platform for Marriott to attract and retain top talent – offering unmatched training hours and opportunities for career progression.

Grounded in insights around what people are looking to gain from their career, “Life With the Works” is an inspirational program encouraging people to “Live Fully”, centred around Marriott’s Employee Value Proposition, TakeCare, people-first culture.

Marriott International offers unrivalled opportunities for people in the hospitality industry to grow their careers, their livelihoods and their own personal development.

The program is being rolled out nationally, led by Natasha Rasheed, Area Director Human Resources - Australia, New Zealand & Pacific of Marriott International.

“At Marriott, we believe a great career is a journey of discovery and inspiration, we empower our people to discover their own journey. We inspire our Associates to make someone else’s day better, enabling them to contribute and motivating them to be their best self every day,” said Natasha Rasheed.

“Marriott Programs also enable our associates to experience greater freedom to create the work/life balance that works for them. With more leave, more benefits and more perks than ever before. We pledge to put associates first and to help open their eyes to the true power of travel and our incredibly upbeat industry. Fun. Flexible. Fulfilling. That’s our promise to our people.”

Marriott’s founders, J.W. and Alice Marriott, started with a small idea: a root beer stand. From there, it grew into a small hotel business, and then another, bigger one.

Together they created something that changed their future—and maybe yours. A great career is about seizing new opportunities, building meaningful relationships and being a force of good in the world.

Whether you are seeking to grow with new opportunities, work beside teammates that feel like family, or make a difference in the world, Marriott helps you live life to its fullest, no matter how you define it.

Marriott is currently recruiting for over 230 positions across Australia to work across the group’s collection of globally famous brands including W Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton, and Westin to name a few.

Marriott Development Academy is integral to the roll out, a global initiative that provides a revolutionary training program, as Australian properties return to full operations.

The Marriott Development Academy (MDA) is an integrated program that adopts a blended learning technique that allows participants to take charge of their career development through a self-paced learning approach.

Designed for a diverse global audience, MDA is Marriott’s revolutionary approach to learning and development. MDA programs are not tied to specific job titles but linked to existing job bands and are not restricted by function.

The MDA program allows flexibility, where Associates can progress in their careers across various parts of the business. Associates can choose from three learning paths - leadership skills, functional knowledge or a mixed learning path in areas such as Human Resources, BMSC, Operations and Finance.

Participants will gain certificates based on a credit system and enjoy flexibility in selection and sequence of course completion. 55% of management roles at Marriott are filled internally.

During the challenging pandemic, Marriott promoted five high-performing Associates into first-time general manager roles. The Associates were all part of Marriott’s internal training and development program.

Sean Hunt, Area Vice President - Australia, New Zealand & Pacific, Marriott International said, “One of the major challenges the pandemic has presented as we re-start operations is the industry-wide staff and skills shortages. This presents opportunities for aspiring hoteliers. At Marriott, we believe in the power of our people. They’re both our foundation and our inspiration. And to show how much we value each and every individual’s contribution, we’ve developed our all-encompassing FlexiFutures program for new and existing employees. We’re offering the chance to embark on a career with us that will open new doors and unlock limitless possibilities. We’re not offering work with a side of life, on the contrary this life with the works.”
