The Steigenberger Icons Wiltcher’s in Brussels will soon become the proud bearer of a Michelin star following the arrival of the outstanding chef Kevin Lejeune.

After being celebrated as “Discovery of the Year” by the famous Gault-Millau restaurant guide in 2019, Kevin’s cuisine at the “La Canne en Ville” Restaurant went on to fire the enthusiasm of guests and critics alike.

The result was the award of a Michelin star in no time at all.

Gault Millau quite rightly awarded him 15 out of a possible 20 points. In April 2022, Kevin Lejeune will make the move to the luxury Steigenberger Icons Wiltcher’s in Brussels and will take his “La Canne en Ville” Restaurant with him.

After conversion works have taken place, the current Davidoff Cigar “D-Lounge” will become the main dining venue of an entirely new gastronomic concept. The Michelin star restaurant will also be integrated into the existing “Loui Bar & Restaurant” so that additional capacities can be added.

The opening is scheduled for mid-April 2022, and the occasion will be marked by turning the 50-seater “Canne en Ville” into a fine dining experience, which guests will be able to access either through the “Loui Bar & Restaurant” or via the exclusive “Avenue Louise” shopping street.

The new restaurant will be accommodated in a listed part of the building which dates back to 1874 and once formed part of the Hotel Godefroy.

Marcus Bernhardt, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality, said:Kevin Lejeune represents a new and young generation of Michelin star chefs. He will enhance the culinary experience of our hotel in Brussels whilst also making a real mark on our high-end Steigenberger Icons. All this will help to turn them into true icons.”

Kevin Lejeune added: For me, it is both a motivation and an honour to join a hotel that is so steeped in tradition and to become part of the Steigenberger Icons brand at the same time. I will also have the opportunity to help shape the atmosphere and the fixtures and fittings of the restaurant I will run in future. I am sure that our new culinary concept will be very appealing to both hotel guests and locals and that new visitor groups and regular customers from our city will be attracted.”

Belgium-born Kevin Lejeune is a real rising star on the scene. His current rating of 15 Gault-Millau points and a first Michelin star set him apart as an exceptional cooking talent.

After several years as a sous-chef under the direction of the renowned Michelin star chef David Martin at the La Paix Restaurant, also in Belgium, Kevin decided to take a leap of faith and open his own “La Canne en Ville” a little outside Brussels city centre.

His craftsmanship and know-how have become reflected in a sophisticated style of cooking that is characterised by personal touches and by perfect taste sensations.

Connoisseurs and experts describe the style of Kevin Lejeune and his young team as being contemporary, innovative, and highly refined.
