The sector is committed to decreasing its carbon footprint and working on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
But plenty of companies, mainly SMEs, lack the incentives or the “know-how” of how to reduce their carbon emissions.
The present study provides an analysis of the challenges, opportunities, and available support for SMEs as they strive to achieve Net Zero emissions. It also aims to make the case for an accelerated response from the hospitality industry to the climate emergency.
The methodologies, tools, initiatives, and case studies included in the report have been selected based on their accessibility, practicality, and applicability by SMEs in the sector.
The report also contains specific recommendations to be implemented by HOTREC national associations or companies in the sector. They target climate awareness, education, and communication; supporting measurement and decarbonisation; advocacy and collaboration.
