Effective from November 1, 2023, Daniel Karbownik is the new Vice President Operations Sub-Saharan Africa within the Middle East, Africa & Türkiye team, for Premium, Midscale and Economy brands,

With an extensive background spanning over 30 years in travel and hospitality across France and North and West Africa, Daniel brings a wealth of experience to the role.

He has consistently embraced new challenges and responsibilities, progressing through various roles over the last 12 years with Accor. In 2019 Daniel held the position of Area General Manager for West Africa and in his more recent position as the Regional General Manager for West and Central Africa, he made significant contributions overseeing a broad geographical territory.

In this new role, Daniel’s geographical scope expands to include the portfolio of hotels previously under the responsibility of Craig Erasmus.

Daniel will be based in Abidjan and will continue to report to Jonathan Sheard, Senior Vice President of Operations, MEA.

About Daniel Karbownik

Daniel Karbownik began his career in the tourism sector in 1987 with Club Méditerranée. In 1999, he opened Club Med World in Paris as General Manager, and in 2002 became General Manager of the various Club Med resorts in Marrakech. From 2006 to 2009, he was President of Club Med Événements. In January 2010, he joined the Accor Group as General Manager of Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa, then in 2013 became Area General Manager Luxury & Upscale Brands Accor for Southern Morocco (Sofitel Agadir Royal Bay, Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa, Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa and MGallery La Médina Essaouira). In 2016, he became Area General Manager AccorHotels Luxe for Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire, then in June 2019 Area General Manager West and Central Africa.
