IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies with more than 6,000 hotels across 19 brands, announces the opening of InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit, a new luxury lifestyle destination for the discerning modern traveller.

Situated in Thonglor, the property offers 241 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, and seamlessly weaves traditional Thai craftsmanship with modern international influences to create an unparalleled destination that mirrors the essence of one of Bangkok’s most vibrant districts.

Widely regarded as one of Bangkok’s most upscale neighbourhoods, Thonglor is awash with chic bistros, upscale bars, and onsen spas; InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit sits amidst the bustle of this energetic area. The hotel’s design draws inspiration from the context of the city, bringing memories from the past into the present and reflecting this in the design details.

The elegance of Tor-mue, a traditional intricate hand weaving technique, is interwoven through the hotel's design and touchpoints.

InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit is designed for the modern luxury traveller seeking cultural rich experiences,” said Prin Pathanatham, General Manager, InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit.

"Embodying the spirit of the Thonglor district where we are located, one will find international influences weaved into the hotel stay experience and contemporary design. Traditional Thai craftsmanship and contemporary flair are also integrated into the guest experience.”

The hotel offers three signature dining options including AVA Brasserie, which presents a brasserie-style international menu inspired by Pan Am’s key destinations including London, New York, Tokyo, Miami, Frankfurt and Bangkok, a nod to the brand’s origin.

The Lobby is a stylish all-day lounge that celebrates the connectiveness of Thailand and Japan, with original Thai tea on offer alongside a traditional Japanese green tea ceremony. The Lobby will offer exclusively blended coffee by Sarnies and tea options from well-known tea houses which include Char Flower Tea, TWG, and Peace Oriental Teahouse as well as a selection of Thai craft chocolates from KanVeLa.

Finally, Rogues a high-energy cocktail bar, will present curated cocktails, exclusive sake selection and whiskey collections, and live jazz performances.

A selection of suites, including the impressive Presidential Suite – which boasts indoor and outdoor areas – are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a 55-inch Smart TV, Chromecast, Bluetooth audio, soundbar, and motion sensors to prevent energy wastage. Bathroom amenities are from luxury European brand, Byredo in large format instead of miniatures.

Modern travellers lead diverse lives, and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts acknowledges the need for seamless transitions throughout their day. To address this, the brand is committed to helping guests "shape shift" through their day.

New initiatives include scientifically backed food and beverage programmes aimed at helping guests reduce travel fatigue while ensuring dining options reflect differing guest needs throughout the day. All guests will also receive access to Timeshifter, a jet lag app which enables travellers to use the latest circadian science to adjust quickly to new time zones.

At InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit, a Sleep Well Program is curated to induce relaxation and promote sound sleep. This includes a pillow and pillow spray menu, calming ambient lighting and a bedtime tea set. An iHome PowerClock Glow in each room further promotes healthy sleeping rituals by creating a calming environment using a combination of light and sound therapy.

THE SPA by HARNN will present a Japanese-Thai inspired concept. Signature treatments include The Origami, which is inspired by the traditional Japanese paper folding and Thai garland knitting; the therapist will employ a combination of massage techniques, including Japanese Shiatsu and Thai soothing massage. The experience is designed to untangle tension in one’s mind and body, leaving guests feeling refreshed.

For business travellers, the hotel boasts extensive meeting facilities that feature natural light and accommodates up to 300 guests across 685 square metres. Five multipurpose spaces are equipped with cutting-edge technology for physical and hybrid meetings.
