IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has earned a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), an international, leading benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

This recognition marks the ninth year in a row in the United States and the third time in Mexico that IHG has earned the top rating on this index.

To earn top ratings, employers took concrete and dedicated steps to establish and implement comprehensive policies, benefits, and practices that ensure greater equity for LGBTQ+ workers and their families.

The current CEI rating criteria had four key pillars: nondiscrimination policies across business entities; equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families; supporting an inclusive culture; and corporate social responsibility.

Rani Hammond, SVP, HR, Americas, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Providing room to belong is core to IHG’s culture. Our business is about people, and we've created a diverse and inclusive environment we know is valued by the millions of guests staying in our hotels, the thousands of owners investing with us, and the talent who choose to join our team. Earning the CEI top score reflects our dedication to building on the significant progress we’ve made to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.”

IHG continues to further a culture of inclusion through key commitments around the world; some examples over the past year include:

  • The Out & Open Employee Resource Group provided employees with a platform to participate in LGBTQ+ focused conversations and activities and support their local LGBTQ+ community.
  • Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, part of the IHG portfolio of brands, has long supported The Trevor Project, a non-profit focused on suicide prevention efforts and support services for the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Supporting several celebrations in local markets including sponsoring London’s 50th anniversary of Pride, the Atlanta Pride Festival for more than 15 years, and Pride in Guadalajara, Mexico – the headquarters of our Latin American operations – for the first time.
  • Offering a wide array of benefits in the US that support the diverse needs of each of its employees and their loved ones, such as IHG’s medical plans being available to same- and opposite-sex spouses and domestic partners, and IHG offering family programs to parents, parents-to-be, partners and caregivers, like fertility assistance coverage, surrogacy assistance reimbursement, and adoption support reimbursement, and more.
IHG’s DEI strategy is guided by its Journey to Tomorrow 2030 responsible business plan. Our aspirations include driving gender balance and representation in leadership as well as cultivating inclusion and driving respect for human rights. We are committed to making a difference for our people, communities and the planet.
