During the past few months we have been undergoing a refresh to meet the changing needs of our guests while remaining true to the essence of where the Singita story began.

Paying Homage with Respect and Care

Re-opening later this month, Georgie Pennington, Singita’s Group Head of Creative Direction, says, “We have rearranged the architectural structure of the main lodge. We are updating it to evolve our product, brand and guest experience, but the essence of Ebony remains the same.”

The refreshed look of the lodge features the rounded shapes of existing Adobe architecture (inspired by North and West Africa) and lightweight canvas tented inspiration evident at our other lodges.

A Sense of Flow

The layout of the main lodge is reimagined to create a greater sense of space and to embrace exciting new aspects - a Conservation Room, a guest lounge and a convenient Bar-Deli area.

The fluidity of the lodge extends to the decks and outdoor areas, which have been opened up to embrace the views of the gardens, the Sand River and beyond.

A Heady Mix of Old and New

Interiors have moved away from animal prints to deep saturated colours. Sofas and armchairs in natural colours are simple and sturdy and feature alongside newly-upholstered antique chairs.

Brass Cape Dutch chandeliers integrate with Berber rug murals and contemporary African art, and the buckles and leather of fold-up furniture layer beautifully with old antiques - providing a mix of different textures and timeframes.

A New Consciousness

Ebony Lodge continues to evolve to meet the needs of the modern traveller, while staying true to its core essence and an unwavering commitment to conservation that is the guiding philosophy weaved through all that we do.

This fitting refresh marks the next chapter of the lodge where the Singita story began.
