This nationwide workplace survey honours Britain's top employers and acknowledges the best workplaces for women, LGBTQIA+ community, disabled employees, ethnic minorities, younger and older workers, and wellbeing.

Dorchester Collection’s company culture is built around its We Care philosophy, where every employee is valued as part of the family.

On the announcement, Milet Lukey, vice president people and culture at Dorchester Collection, commented “At Dorchester Collection we are exceptionally proud of our ‘We Care’ culture, through which we seek to ensure that we create an environment where everyone feels safe, listened to and respected. Employees throughout the company engage with our core values of passion, personality, respect, working together and creativity.”

It is this ‘We Care’ culture that has attracted more than 1,000 employees from more than 70 different nationalities to Dorchester Collection’s UK operations, many of whom have chosen to stay with the company throughout their time in the hospitality industry.

As such, Dorchester Collection was also featured as a spotlight award winner, in the Best Places to Work for Employees Aged 55+’category.

The report commented that: “people age well as employees of the Dorchester hotels. Almost ten percent of the 1,000-strong workforce said they were aged 55-plus, and these 78 people gave their employer a 90 per cent engagement rating”.

Longevity of service and recruiting a diverse workforce has been a focus point for Lukey and her team.

“We are delighted that so many employees choose to grow and develop with Dorchester Collection, but we are excited to recruit team members from all age demographics and multiple nationalities. We have a dynamic and varied employee base, which helps the brand thrive,” she added.

Dorchester Collection’s UK hotels have also been recognised amongst the 100 Best Places to Work for 2024, thanks to its development programme. With internships, leadership schemes, and hands-on experiences on offer to those taking part, employees are not only able to achieve an in-depth insight into the hospitality industry, but also enjoy benefits that include engagement committees, recognition schemes, celebrations, food and drinks discounts, and complimentary hotel stays.

The Sunday Times Best Places to Work awards survey uses 26 questions from WorkL’s employee engagement survey, developed by behavioural scientists, data analysts, psychologists, business leaders, academics, and other independent parties to most accurately monitor employee engagement, wellbeing, and discretionary effort in the workplace
