Banyan Tree launches an independent GDS “BY” code on 27 September 2007 - a milestone in the company’s 14-year history.
Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts will be represented by the GDS code “BY" across major Global Distribution Systems (GDS). Travel specialists are now able to access direct and immediate reservations information on 10 Banyan Tree properties across over 640,000 terminals on the GDS systems, which comprise Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan networks.
Harnessing new technology becomes a must as Banyan Tree enters a new stage of global expansion. By launching its independent GDS code, the Group is demonstrating its brand strength and increased market share. From the cutover date on 27 September, a total of 10 resorts will be represented by BY, to be followed by another six in 2008.
Where BY?
The worldwide marketing campaign for the successful launch of BY is assured with Banyan Tree’s catchy “Just BY” tagline. With scenes of Bliss BY Banyan Tree, Nature BY Banyan Tree, and Romance BY Banyan Tree, the new BY booking code is easily associated with Banyan Tree’s brand identity. An array of BY collectibles will be distributed to travel specialists, including memo pads and Banyan Tree sand turtles.

Grand Prize
All bookings made for “BY” properties via the GDSs between 27 Sep 07 and 31 Mar 08 will entitle the travel specialists to a chance to win this prize of a 3-night stay at any Banyan Tree or Angsana property under the “BY” code. Prize will include full board and 20% discount on a-la-carte spa sessions during their stay.
Monthly Top Agency Prize
There will also be a monthly top agency prize from the period of Oct 2007 to March 2008.
Eligibility
The Grand Prize and Monthly Top Agency Prize competition is open to all travel specialists using a GDS terminal to book BY under the new code. Official Rules and Terms & Conditions Apply.
Incentive
As an added incentive, agencies will be accorded 12% commission for selected “BY” hotels on bookings made between 27 Sep 2007 and 31 Mar 2008 (excluding bookings for stays 20 Dec 07 – 10 Jan 08, 14-28 Mar 08).
